Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality, —Warren Bennis, Barak Obama is the 44‘” President of the United States. Like many before him he is currently sewing his second term as President, Like none before his, he is the first African American leader. There have been many leaders before him but none exactly like him. I admire Obama because he comes from humble beginnings, is relatable, and has a strong support system behind him. Barak Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Hawaii.
During his childhood, he did not have a relationship with his father. When he was 4 he and his mother moved to Indonesia to be with his stepfather. Only to move back to Hawaii 6 years later so that he would be safer and get a better education. In high school, he played basketball and was involved with drugs and alcohol.
When Obama was 21 his father died in a car accident in Africa. In 1995 his mother lost her battle with cancer.
I think that all these events helped to shape Obama into the humble, relatable, and strong leader that he is now. Although most people cannot attend Occidental College, Columbia University, and Harvard Law School, there are other relatable aspects in Obamas life, 24 million children in America are currently growing up without a father, like Obama. Many people play/ed sports in high school, as did he. Similar to Barak, a lot of people have moved numerous times in their lifetimes, having to adjust to new lifestyle. He lost his loved one to cancer like many people do every day.
He also has wife and a children which is very relatable among Americans.
These are just a few of the many reasons that I think that he is relatable to the people that he is serving. Lastly I think he is a great leader because he has a strong support system, and when I say that I mean a strong wife, They say that behind every great man there is an even greater woman. Michelle Obama is a very great woman, she is just as important as her husband, In 6 years she has already helped to improve the health of the children of our nation Behind the lines she is able to support, love, and keep her husband in check. She is a strong, vibrant, and intelligent wornani Without her I don’t think her husband would be the man and great leader he is now
