An Analysis of a Halloween Prank by Students of St. Jeffreys Primary School

A blood curdling scream filled the room as a body fell through the doorway. Josh looked up, glad that he had made such an impression on the girls. He began laughing, while the girls looked at him and berated him for playing such an awful joke.

Halloween was coming up and all the kids were getting exited, making their costumes. Josh, Corey, and Melvin were all in the 7th grade at St Jeffrey’s Primary School. At school they were planning their costumes and what they were going to need for them.

Melvin had planned to be a ghost, Corey was going to be a murderer, and Josh was going to be an evil clown or a murder victim!

The class settled back down as the teacher entered the room and began busily adding the finishing touches to their costumes. It was Halloween that night and there was an excited buzz amongst the students all day, as they discussed where they were going and the type of tricks that they had in mind for those people that chose tricks rather than treats.

Josh, Corey and Melvin left school that afternoon, talking excitedly about the pranks they were going to play. Just before dark, they met at Corey’s house, put on their costumes, picked up their bags, grabbed their eggs and were ready to go.

They then walked to each house in Corey’s street, and mainly received treats from all the neighbours. They went into every street and trick or treated in their terrifying costumes.

Their costumes were so scary that when little kids answered the door, they began to scream and cry in fright!

It was about ten pm and they had been trick or treating for three hours, when they decided it was time to go home. They had already egged several houses and received close to one hundred and thirty six lollies. They began walking back towards Corey’s house when they heard a really weird scratching sound coming from down the street. All the boys stopped dead in their tracks and looked at each other. “What was that?” said Corey to the other boys. “I don’t know, “said Melvin, “But let’s go and find out!” Excitedly they ran as fast as they could to down the street and saw, what looked to be a small alien. But it couldn’t be, could it?

Melvin said, “It’s just a person dressed up trick or treating.” It was speaking English so the three boys figured it was human. Melvin turned to the alien and asked “Would you like to come trick or treating with us”? The alien made a weird squeaking sound and said, “Yes please,” in a very raspy voice.

So the three boys took the alien with them and began walking down the street stopping at houses for tricks or treats again. The whole time, the alien boy kept making raspy and squeaking noises. Finally Josh screamed to the alien, “HEY! Will you stop making that noise! It’s fine if you want to do it while were at someone’s door but you don’t have to keep it up while we are walking!” After Josh yelled, the alien’s eyes flashed red and it shrieked out an even weirder noise, and ran down the street. “Hey, STOP!” yelled Melvin, and they all chased him.

About 10 minutes later they arrived at a dead end except for an alley way, which was surrounded by a lot of tall trees. The alley way was very dark and long. None of them knew where the alley way lead to, but they did not want to go though it unless they absolutely had to.

All of a sudden Josh screamed out “HELP!!” Melvin and Corey turned around almost instantly, but when they turned around, what they saw was terrifying and unexpected. They saw the alien in the top of the tree; its eyes were glowing red. The faint street light was reflecting a pail light on its teeth, which were covered in blood. There under the alien’s mouth, was Josh’s head!

The alien was holding it in its claw like hands. Its claws had long sharp nails that were stabbed though Josh’s head. His body was lying lifelessly on the ground with a puddle of blood around it. Then the alien made a hissing sound and started eating Josh’s head. Melvin fell to the ground and started crying, so Corey tried to pick him up so that they could get away.

Melvin got up and started heading for the alley way, with Corey following him. They ran as fast as they could home. Melvin cried the whole way home and he was looking pale and kept shaking. When they were at the bottom of Corey’s street they stated walking and Melvin started muttering something under his breath. He kept saying something like “why him, why him, why him”??

Corey was quite worried about him; he thought he might be having a nervous break down. Corey was just staring at the ground when he herd Melvin scream “THERE IT IS!!!” Instantly Corey looked up and saw the alien, but it was different, IT HAD GROWN!

By eating Josh, the alien must have taken his energy which made him grow. It had the same head but it was bigger and its teeth were bigger. Its body was the same but its claws were massive, and so were its feet. Melvin passed out, so Corey ran as fast as he could dragging Melvin. He couldn’t just leave him there!

They got home and locked the door, and went in to the lounge room where both of their mums were sitting with coffee. Corey said “Mum something happened to Josh…..” Then before his mum could speak there was a knock at the door. His mum opened the door and Josh walked in, Corey was so happy he started crying. It was all a joke or so Josh said.

That night Josh and Melvin slept over Corey’s house. Late at night when Corey and Melvin were asleep Josh started making weird squeaking noises and weird scratching noises. Then his eyes flashed red!
