What is a life that’s been deprived of happiness and comfort and been replaced with cruel pain and sorrow? Should people have the choice to end their own life? Does a person have the right to die when he/she chooses to do so? ls euthanasia really a “good death”?” Legalizing euthanasia has become a hot issue not only to the doctors but also to people who are concerned about it. Euthanasia has already been legalized in the Netherlands, Belgium, and a few parts of the United States of America.
I agree that people have the freedom to do anything they want to do, but death is something that shouldn’t be controlled by a human’s power. Some people believe that euthanasia is not as bad as murder, but I think they are both the same, it’s like committing a crime or suicide. Euthanasia should not be legalized for a number of reasons. One reason euthanasia should not be legalized is it going against religious beliefs.
Another reason is that you are taking away a person’s life.
Another reason why euthanasia shouldn’t be legalized is that it disobeys people’s religious beliefs. In fact, they feel worried for their family, and they end up making up a careless decision. This suggests there is no real need for euthanasia. Some people actually choose to end their lives because of the stresses they get from their family. This shows why euthanasia is such an bad action to make.
The definition of the word can never be changed, Most Christians and Catholics think it is a sin to commit or assist suicide. However, euthanasia is still killing. Many people who ask for euthanasia are rarely free. Therefore, they believe only God can start a life, and only God should be the one to end one. Euthanasia should be illegal because it is irreversible, and because anyone making the decision is by the very nature of the decision in severe emotional distress. People in times of severe stress do not usually make well-thought out, rational decisions.
They may regret them later. There also might be a chance for a person to come out of a coma, regain use of limbs, regains ability to do things, there is the idea that legalizing euthanasia will put pressure on old people to kill themselves before they really are ready to die. They will feel like they must kill themselves so their relatives won’t have to care for them, ”Legalizing euthanasia will bring peace to the patients who have been in miserable pain striving hard to restore health but have no more hope but sufferings. Legalization of euthanasia will bring relief to the associated people with the terminally ill patient too.” No this is wrong because everybody has the right to stay alive and if we legalize euthanasia then the doctors would have more freedom and power to euthanize allk the patients who they can’t take care of, which is not fair because a doctor is there to make a patient feel better and stay healthy not to make the patient die.
Everyone has the right to stay alive and even patients do. Today in Canada, euthanasia, much like abortion, is a topic that everyone seems to have a different opinion about. But the bottom line, for numerous reasons, is that if euthanasia is legalized, not only will things change in the medical field, but it will only become another topic that gets blown out of proportion and in turn will be another issue that gets thrown around in our government. The best way to avoid this situation is simply just not legalize it. Euthanasia should be illegal because it is irreversible, and because anyone making the decision is by the very nature of the decision in severe emotional distress.
