The Reasons Why States Follow International Law and Why Others Do Not

International law is a world system of rules and principles, involving similarity between sovereignty states and their subjects. However, international law differs from differ from state based legal Systems the writer of this essay believes that some states comply with international law because they want to whilst others do not to. The first following going to briefly describe international law and two offers the reasons why some states obey international law while others do not. International law consists of the rules and principles of general application dealing with the conduct of states and of international organizations in their international relations with individual’s privacy and minority group.

International law is governed by a state, this means that members of a state are not put under an obligation to accept international law, unless it has been given a permission to a particular conduct. There are two main branches of international law, which are private and public international law.

Public international law relates to the body of laws governing relationship between different states On the other hand, private international law which is also known as “conflict of laws”, provides a framework for argue resolutions between non- state actors and companies from different jurisdictions.

International law comes from for sources which are; international convention, international custom, general principle and judicial decisions. Some states comply with international law because they are interested to, they fear being isolated, disorder avoidance, punishment and identification with international norms. State obey international law because it is in their interests to do so, if a person agrees to follow international law, a person get certain benefits.

Other thing is that there is no overall authority to bind. International law lacks effective law making authorities, many rules of international law are uncertain and it has failed to maintain order and peace in the world.
