A good experience in my education was having me second-semester chemistry teacher. I had a teacher in my first semester of chemistry that was hired to replace a teacher on paternity leave She had a degree that was for working in a lab. It was a class that no one took serious and the class average was a low C. No matter how hard people tried or how much they studied, no one did very well in her class. I was excited when I saw that I had a different teacher for the next semester.
My new teacher had been a teacher for about seven years. He knew what he was doing which was a lot different from my last teacher. He was shocked that I didn’t know the periodic table or common formulas.
Quickly he realized that anyone who had the other teacher was behind his students. Instead of refusing to go the extra mile, Mr. Moulton was always willing to give up time from his prep or lunch hour to help students, I liked going to him for help when 1 had study hall because it got me out of study hall and it helped my grade in his class.
When we finished the work we would sit around and talk about sports or life. It was enjoyable because we had a lot of common interests. We weren’t best friends or anything but I believe I was more receptive to a teacher who was more like me, We could relate to each other so it made communicating a lot easier than the previous teacher I had.
Hopefully when I am teaching I will be able to relate to the kids like Mr. Moulton does, As I get older it might get harder but I’ll still try to do it because when I had a teacher that was the opposite or me they seemed uninterested and if they are uninterested they shouldn’t expect their students to be interested.
