Imagine living on open land and still having bonderes and having you hunting for food and having to walk to get water,That is what Native americans did. Native americans came from siberia.Well how did they come?so a long time ago there was a land bridge that developed during the Ice age . It was not necessarily land it it was ice.in the ice age when a lot earth’s water was lock in glacial ice. Glacial ice is snow that in many years will compress is to thick ice masses .

This happens when snow remains is one place for a long time to transfer into ice . There are at least 500 Native americans tribes.This tribe that is called sioux they were most known for their strong leaders and brave fighters , there are so many tribes that has lived in america. And this is just one of the tribes.

They lived in camps and had jobs. Men hunted and fought wars , some became medicine men or chiefs. The woman were in charge of running the camps and cooking.

Most of the Sioux tribe lived in teepees . They liked them because they were easy set up and take down to move when needed .They were made out of wooden poles and buffalo skin . The women in the tribe would get the buffalo skin ready to put on the homes.

The sioux were a really creative tribe they made stuff like tools and other things by hand.They made clothes ,tools,and food. They gathered firewood and pounded jerky .The sioux decorated Their makings with porcupine quills and beads.

Their religion was so important to them for their way of life.They believed in animals and

planets and that everything has power .when they behave well the power will help them and when they behave badly the power hurt them. The medicine man led the tribe members in special dances and ceremonies. Some of the members shared their dreams and visions and smoked pipes. They would believe these were the way to talk to powerful beings.

The sioux members told stories. They would tell stories sometimes by drawing stories and using symbols. The folktales and myths were used to teach their members and people history and lessons. But some were used to entertain them. Storytelling was used to pass on ideas and beliefs to new generation.

The sioux land was really important to the sioux. Like this place black hills was considered sacred. The important tribe stories and leaders were connected to this place also known as paha sapa .1868 the U.S and the sioux signed papers at fort laramie. They said the land was the sioux.There was gold found in black hills in 1870. When that happened american settlers began to travel to the land.The settlers killed more buffalo than they needed . The settlers took gold and other resources. Then the U.S government told the sioux that they have to live on reservation. So they tried to farm, but a lot struggled. In the years the sioux and settlers battled over land. 1876 the sioux fought famously in the battle of Little Bighorn . Little bighorn was a brave fighter and leader. There was two armed fights at wounded knee in south dakota. Right now the sioux are working to gain back land that was taken away from the sioux.

Can you imagine living in a tribe and new people taking over your home your land, and you having to move to reservation and all that you have and know snatch away from you like in one day. Today we have electronics and internet and nice homes. But Then they were communities and people caring for each and other, and taking care of nature, But right now we have lots of hate ,less helping each and other, and less taking care of our world. It is so crazy how much we have changed from then to now.
