Obesity is a major risk factor many conditions, like type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, stroke, heart disease and more. Eating foods loaded with sugar, fats and calories can add extra weight to your body, weakening your bones and making your organs work harder. This automatically puts you at a higher risk for health problems down the road.

  • Certain nutrients affect certain parts of the body. Without enough calcium, your bones can become unhealthy, brittle and weak. This makes you more susceptible to osteoporosis. Therefore, a diet that is high in calcium can help prevent osteoporosis. The same holds true with saturated fat and cardiovascular disease. Too much saturated fat in your diet can lead to high cholesterol and high blood pressure, two major risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
  • Healthy eating improves the mood, which in turn boosts physical activity. If you’re happy, you’re more likely to be active. Eating the right foods can help you be happier, therefore leading to more bouts of healthy exercise. Since regular physical activity is a necessity for disease prevention, healthy eating therefore helps in the equation.
  • Healthy diets boost “good” cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein) and decrease unhealthy triglycerides. This directly impacts risk of heart disease, stroke, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and high blood pressure by helping your blood flow smoothly. The healthier foods you eat, the better your “good” cholesterol levels will be, helping to prevent disease.

There are many benefits in eating healthy. People who tend to eat healthy are more active, workout, healthier, and are in better shape than those who don’t. People who eat health are giving their body the nutrition and energy needed to workout. Those who don’t eat a healthy meal have trouble keeping energy for longer workouts. Not eating a healthy meal will increase the time for one to get in shape while only working out. There is a saying that you cannot out work a bad diet. No matter how much you work out in the gym you cannot beat eating a bad diet where there is no nutritional value and contains chemical processed ingredients. Eating balanced meals which contains whole grains, fruits and vegetables can improve the body function. A well-balanced diet provides all of the:

  • Energy you need to keep active throughout the day
  • Nutrients you need for growth and repair, helping you to stay strong and healthy and help to prevent diet-related illness (Health benefits of eating well). Americans are choosing to eat better than they have in the past. The studies of nutrition have proven that people who choose better food options are healthier than those who do not. The individuals that have chosen to eat healthier are the ones who work out. They are the ones who care about their well-being more than those who choose not to work out. They are helping their body fight illnesses with their daily workout. Americans are also avoiding preventable diseases by consuming proper nutrients. Consuming well balanced proper nutrient can help Americans maintain healthy weight.
