I didn’t want to be stuck at a job that would be boring or would require a lot of physical labor. Over the course of my last two high school years graphic design became a thought for me. I have always been artistic but graphic design involves more than being artistic for sure. Though I am sure I don’t know everything that I should about the career. We should know by the end of this paper if I still think Graphic Design is the best choice for me.

Graphics express ideas through textual and visual content. This includes images, photos, words, shapes, or graphics and can be in virtual form (online) or physical form (printed). Graphic design is everywhere you look and can be as small as the design on a phone screen or as large as a company sign. Graphic design has various purposes including marketing, cultural, political, and academic.

A graphic designer could be making logos and branding for cooperations, creating editorial designs for magazines, newspapers, books, advertising, web design, packaging, and signage.

Five design standards used in graphic design include- contrast, repetition, alignment, hierarchy, and balance. Graphic design incorporates strategy and creativity to find a balance between purpose and aesthetics. Graphic design helps sell products or ideas and is a good influential tool. Used to identify merchandise or essential features of a company’s identity or brand using colors, images, packaging and text. Graphic design can be found in the entertainment industry in the opening and closing credits of a film, and in Broadway programs.

Graphic design is a competitive field to enter, so any type of experience you can show in addition to your college degree will help you stand out.
