What English 1100 is All About

At the beginning of this semester or when I was planning on what to do next semester, I didn’t think this class would be as easy and understanding as it was all semester. I mean from discussion boards to writing projects, they were all as clear as a crystal. I saw this class as requirement that I needed to set aside as soon as possible. This and other classes were stepping stones of pre-requisite that I needed to complete prior to beginning my major.

I have taken English prior in my college education but not quite like this one.

This class allowed me to expand upon mu through process, improve my critical thinking skills and it introduced me to different kinds of essays that I had not previously had experience with. In the beginning of the semester they were many things that I had to revise in my essays and they took twice as long to write as well. However, by the end of the semester writing, I can I become much simpler and my writing in general has become stringer as well.

During this semester, the different types of writing helped me in many different ways. It helped me know and understand the editing marks, having my rough draft proofread by instructor and also my classmates. Seeing what different type of readers though of my writing or how I could or needed to improve so that way my reader had their full attention on my story and the anticipation of what might happen next.

My writing made me have more of a suspenseful mind. From my readings I am able to find ways to keep my reader attractive and made m add more detail to the different type of writings. This semester made it more clear to me and very helpful; due to this I am able to further my writings as I further a long into my future writing class.

When I fully understood what English 1100 is all about, realized there is more to writing than just putting words on paper. Expanding your writing ability can be difficult and often times frustrating, but when done well, writing can change the opinion of thousands. I also learned how important is to research author’s backgrounds. Any author with an extensive background on the information you had in your essay can help establish a stronger credibility. The various type of writing that we did taught me how to tweak my writing depending upon the audience as well as make changes depending on the format.

Throughout the semester, I learned how to create a well-supported and detailed body paragraphs. I learned how to summarize, paraphrase and quote details of particular information in multiple articles. The major difference between summarizing and paraphrasing an article is that paraphrasing requires the information to be cited while summarizing is giving an overview of the entire article. Furthermore, learned that key to choosing quotes from an article is to choose the sentences that put the most emphasis on the argument you are trying to prove to the audience. During this semester, I feel like I have accomplished effectively on how to use three elements of writing: summarizing, paraphrasing and quotations. My body paragraphs have gotten stronger and more influential because I acquired these skills.

In all writings I worked hard on. I feel as if I gave all my on every single writing I wrote in this class. I made several mistakes too. Through my mistakes, I have learned that no matter what kind of writing you are on, you have to make sure you are entertaining your readers with great detail and story. If I had to choose a writing in which I felt, I could have I feel proud of what I did is reading response using narration and description. The only reason I say this is because I felt like I made my point understood to my fellow classmates and instructor too.

I know that my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge has grown stronger each weak. I have always struggled to put my thoughts on a paper in a manner that is coherent and correct according to assignments. I can remember being told several times in high school to organize your thoughts or to provide more support and examples. These are the things that I have worked on day in day out in this semester and I improved over the time and I feel like my work show this. This class have helped me to write better papers with better ideas. I have learned how to write various style of papers in different fields. I feel confident that I could write about most anything and know how to cite and format it properly.

Techniques that I think helped me to improve my critical think skills, analyzing skills and writing overall are the pre-writing draft and outlining. Pre-writing was a beneficial technique because it allowed me to brainstorm and just writing about whatever ideas came to my mind. And the three essays, although all having their individual challenges, fostered creativity and taught me to use new found skills. Throughout this class, I was able to weed out sources that were irrelevant and focus solely on what supported my argument in the most effective way possible.

I feel confident that this class will help me prepare for my future class, as I prepare to take second English class come this fall. If I didn’t attend this class first, I would be confused like a sheep, I would be still writing the way used to poorly. But now I am able to write the right way following all rules and regulations.

I would tell to students who will be taking English 1100 to give it all.Dont come to this class thinking it is a pre-requisite or any other thing. Pay attention to all details. I you have any questions or concerns raise your hand or email your instructor and solve any issues you have before it is too late. Make sure you do every assignment, attend class, you never know what you will miss. Also during your project writing, please read the instructions carefully and do all the necessary work that it requires. Be careful and have fun with your writing.
