Animal abuse is a strong issue that has been discussed for years. It is wrong and disgusting. We shouldn’t be taking the lives of other living creatures for our liking. We shouldn’t be taking advantage of them and their lives. There are many forms of animal abuse but mainly tormented in sports, entertainment, hunting, medical experiments, and product testing.

The animals in sports and entertainment aren’t usually killed, but suffer a great deal. In sports, the animals are involved in abuse games such as horse-racing, dog racing, rodeos, circuses, and sock fighting. These are only a few examples. In the horse and dog racing, and also rodeos, the animals are teased and whipped, like in the Calgary Stampede. In circuses, they are teased, whipped, shoved into small cages, and forced to do unnatural tricks.

Tigers were not made to jump through flaming hoops. In movies, the animals are also taught to do unnatural things, for example in Air Bud. The dog played basketball. Air Bud actually died from doing it. So the directors got a new Air Bud to play in the following Air Bud movies.

Hunting is the most unnecessary form of animal abuse. Also is animal abuse in general, like having a pet and hitting it. If you hit a dog, he will never forget and become afraid of lots of things.

I know from experience. I have a pitbull named Molson and he’s only 2 years old. He used to belong to one of my brothers ex-friends. He used to be abused and hit badly. So my brother took Molson and now loves him to death. Molson is now afraid of everything, even cats. In my opinion there is absolutely no point to hunting. It is just a game that men and women) do that they think makes them more “manly” or powerful. Well, maybe it could be understandable if it’s for food, but when the hunting is for sport then the hunter has gone too far. It’s not fair to the animals. They don’t have a gun to shoot back and make it a fair game. A while ago the courts have had a youth recently appear having shot his puppy and left it to die when he couldn’t house-train it. His explanation was “It’s my dog, I can do what I want with it.” How can this be right? I don’t think animals should be “owned” by anybody. Just live with them. It’s not fair for the puppy, that he had to die just because the boy didn’t like it. The puppy did not choose to live with that boy.

On the upside to animal abuse, humans do not get harmed in product testing or experiments. In polls, it was found that people think people are more important that animals. I think that it is all right to do experiments on rats or mice. I do not like it when they test eye products on rabbits, or other animals. The hunting of some animals is actually pretty mandatory though. Man messed everything up by bringing foreign species into different lands, so some lands may get infested by certain animals or insects. Man could then calm down the population of the species by hunting it.

Medical experiments and product testing is probably one of the more worst types of animal abuse. Most of the experiments are not necessary. It has been found by the PETA that there are many alternatives to using animals as their test pets. Over sixty million animals are used for experiments in the United States per year! Animals used includes: rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, tigers, rats, dogs, cats, chimpanzees, and many, many more. These animals go through so much torment it’s unbelievable. Albino rabbits are used for the Draize Eye Irritancy Test. Chimps are used for eye-burning experiments. Many animals “donate” their organs. The list goes on and on. Companies should not use animals for their testing. Clairol and Body Shop are just two of the many companies who refuse to use animals in their tests.

There are many people who do agree with me when I say stop the abuse to animals. Then there are a few odd ones out that do not agree with me. I think it’s just very unnecessary with all this going on. Hunting should be illegal, and so should all these races. The restrictions should be better. Why should the animals be used in experiments when it is not necessary? It’s just not fair. People have their rights, animals should too.
