From an early age, I have been anxious to learn new things and have always been curious about how the human body functions. The perfection of the human anatomy is marvelous, yet this existence is fragile. It is not only threatened by diseases but also by various other factors. What fascinates me the most is how it is able to overcome difficulty in its battle of endurance. I used to research for my answer and eventually learned that our existence is held together by the principles and applications of biomedical science.

The talent to apply laboratory-based science with a medical foundation in the healthcare sector, and the adaptable nature of the profession is what builds up my ambition. My educational aspirations consist of acquiring a bachelor’s degree in any biological or health science that would assist me in a research career.

The Faculty of Science at York University is a model of excellence. Their academic programs are of the highest quality and the research of their professors is recognized globally. Being part of a university that has contributed and is still contributing to our present understanding of science, inspires me to want to be part of future discoveries.

Firstly, research facilities in the field of biomedical science are poor in Oman and India. Secondly, the fact that the four-year honors program at York University will allow me to do a minor in another related discipline such as Psychology, is unlike any course offered in India or Oman. More importantly, studying abroad will help me to become completely independent, I will be ready to take up more responsibilities.

As my parents are investors in Oman, I have always lived in Oman. Both my parents run different businesses and are very successful entrepreneurs. I have two elder brothers who have also done their schooling in Oman. My elder brother is a doctor in London. He recently completed his second masters in London, UK. My second brother completed his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Manchester, UK and is currently running his own company in Oman.

I earned my high school diploma from the International school of Choueifat-Muscat. I have beenliving in Oman for almost eighteen years, Oman has become home. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I will look for opportunities and try to attach myself to international healthcare projects, go for voluntary work. A Canadian degree will help me to contribute my knowledge and skills to Oman’s developing health sectors such as the pharmaceutical and health industry.

The Biomedical science course at York University will provide me with a strong foundation to pursue academic research, work in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors in Oman. It will also equip me with a variety of transferable skills including data gathering, analysis and interpretation, team work and presentation skills, all necessary to boost my chances to get a job in a reputable firm in Oman.
