In life, we see many things which are not fair and when people do it more often it becomes a common thing and then it’s considered to be fair. “I swear to the Lord, I still can’t see why democracy means everybody but me.” This was said by Langston Hughes at the 1920s and at this time many Black poets, musicians, and writers were being recognized by their talents but yet they could not be able to go into best hotels own a property in a “white” neighborhood.

This type of situation has happened in the book Black Like Me to John Howard Griffin, to Malcolm X and to Langston Hughes as well. In the story Black Like Me we see the times when Griffin turned Black when he was not treated the same way. One of those moments is when Griffin went to the bank to get money for his check but they did not give him money for his check It was because the white people get the black people to get in debt and blame them for it.

At another place in the book, we see that black people were not allowed to go to the beach but yet as a citizen of the country they paid taxes, we can therefore assume that the white people just despise the person by his or her color. In the station when Griffin was going to buy a ticket he then encountered this hate stair which was filled with hatred.
