Military History

Topics: America

I learned a whole lot of important things in this great class over the last eight weeks. Over the last eight weeks, I learned more about Adolf Hitler, and how awful he was, about an independent Air Force, World War II, new weapons, the effect that Japan did on the United States, dealing with the Nazis, the effect that the Vietnam War had on the American citizens, and the crisis it caused, special operations, the homecoming of Vietnam veterans, and the increased amount of terrorism that went on.

Adolf Hitler and The Germans

Adolf Hitler went down as one of the most powerful and ill-repute dictators in the 20th century. Adolf Hitler was one of the supreme leaders of Nazi, Germany, during his time in prison in the 1920s. Hitler was put in prison at the Landsberg Prison where he wrote a book, Mein Kampf. Mein Kampf was an autobiography about what his political plans were for the German country. He was sentenced to jail for treason, where he planned his awful attack on the Jewish people.

Adolf Hitler gave a three-phase plan for the restoration of the German nation. His three-phase plan was to rearm, retaliate, and retake. The Germans had a wise dictator as the head of state. There was a complete rejection of capitalism and communism in Germany, and it was considered too corrupt of “Jewish Influences.” Germany killed and persecuted six million Jewish citizens by the Nazis. The Holocaust was a deadly invasion and was very sickening of what Adolf Hitler and his German military did to the Jewish.

The Independent United States Air Force

The United States Independent Air Force was a strong dominant factor that was about to change the United States’ future wars. There was an instructor, Billy Mitchell, that became one of the strongest and smartest teachers of airpower and dominance. He became an air-flying ace. The independent Air Force allowed soldiers and developers to be a part of the strategies that utilized the power of air to the Air Force’s strongest potential. The Air Force did not become something until after Billy Mitchell’s death, he got credit for what he did with his work, and the US Air Force was created in 1947.

There was an extreme supply of new development and the use of aircraft carriers. Billy Mitchell came up with a plan that reasoned why aircraft mobility does not have good access to fuel and the restrictions that came up that limited the idea of the aircraft overall. It concluded that the US Soldiers could occupy an aircraft that was held by enemies, and the navy would help the aircraft and the Air Force. The next invention that Mitchell had was paratroopers. Paratroopers were a strong component in the Air Force and are today also. Billy Mitchell had an Idea, his idea was that with the bombers and planes, troops could safely get down on the enemies. The idea of paratroopers would weaken other areas of the war because other soldiers would be focused on the sky instead. Mitchell thought that airpower is more intense than naval power, and he is not wrong. Airpower is a strategic power to have, you can get up on your enemies quickly. The Navy was not as strong, with its equipment it was much smaller and the aircraft could deliver explosive bombs and drop, unlike the navy.

World War II

World War II started in 1939 and went until 1945. World War II witsas hands down awful.

In Conclusion

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly loved this class, I learned so much, and I am so glad I decided to pick this class. In this class, I learned a lot, but in the last couple of weeks, we have learned about Adolf Hitler, and his German soldiers, and their horrific actions towards the Jewish citizens. Next, we learned about the Independent United States Air Forces, its advantages of that, and how Billy Mitchell was so influential he was on the United States Air Force. Then, we learned about the effects of World War II, the creations of new weapons and the advancements the weapons had on the United States military, the damages Japan did to Pearl Harbor, and what events occurred after that happened towards Japan, the Vietnam war and what was happening in the United States after the Vietnam War, and special operations. Finally, the last thing that is such a major deal in the United States today, the terrorist attacks on the United States, the 9/11 attack in New York City. The last few weeks held lots of interesting information, and I am glad I got to be along for the ride!
