Impetus for Immigration Reform

The united states since being colonized have had its ups and downs. From migration, liberal rights, slavery, civil war, segregation, and voting criteria, to modern-day problems dealing with our own identity. One major problem that has resurfaced since president trump was elected is immigration posing a threat to this nation. Not specifically pointing towards one race but all included over the years. Even though we are all technically immigrants the issue wasn’t as big as it has been this past year.

The words president trump said while pushing the elected vote are what caused the chaos behind the thought of immigration. He stated that he wanted to build a wall so that no one from Mexico and down on could cross. Although the first thoughts of our society were that he was trying to keep them out because there are too many of them trying to get over and “take our jobs.” That was not the case. He was stating that there needs to be a better solution for the people trying to come over and kill us for no reason or bomb a church to prove they can get away with that.

Including the terrorists that can’t be identified due to their disguise. Even the immigrants who are over here legally but are helping others get over secretly or working for the people that sent them over are a threat. Yet, as we live our everyday lives, we don’t pay attention to the little things they do or think about because we are stuck in our world.

For instance, in the Orlando shooting; Omar Mateen’s reason for shooting up that club was behind the bombings in Iraq and Syria. Though immigrants have helped us shape the united states bit by bit they do pose a threat to this nation.

Of course, since that incident, the government thinks it was a terrorist attack on the united states. While other interactions go on with Islamic people and other ethnicities and they don’t pose a threat. In conclusion, the 17 yr.-old girls named Nabra was beaten with a bat over road rage which she did not cause. The driver was upset over a little argument and chased her down and beat her to death. Then to get rid of the evidence took her to a pond where her body was found the next morning. Since this altercation is flipped it makes it seem like the American citizen was targeting Nabra because she was Muslim. She did not threaten him of any sort that we know of. Also, including that she could have been a threat the story of Nabra was brushed over like it wasn’t that big of a deal. This would make it seem like Americans cause the outlook on why immigrants are a threat to this nation. But immigrants have been targeting America since it has been founded. The first terrorist attack that the united states had that changed the world was 9/11. On 9/11/01 the twin towers were destroyed as two planes flew into them. while the buildings were falling apart the terrorists were on their escape plan to leave the states. That was the beginning of the immigration reform. Since then many changes have been made to make sure another terrorist attack doesn’t go unnoticed. Although the government is doing its job. One day they will look over the reforms and incidents that have happened and realize that it wasn’t enough. Yes, they have come up with these changes to help protect this nation but just like the Mexicans crossing the border is an issue so will the next terrorist attack. It won’t be enough. The bigger the population grows the more dangers that lurk on the earth.

The government should come together and have a united nation meeting and figure out how to separate the good from the bad. Let the good immigrants have a chance to prove that they are not a threat. Instead of just giving them a simple test and letting them go they should discuss the depth of how this can affect not only the people living in the country but their nation as well. Even though the person may seem like they are a good match and then come over and still cause an attack is likely it should still be considered as an idea. The united nations could come up with a system that has important information based on the person’s everyday decisions. For example, when you are asked to choose a career path before you leave high school. The government could ask why or what is the story behind this choice. What is the real reason for wanting to come to America other than the opportunities given? How will you stay in America improve your life from you living in your home country? Including personal questions when you want to know a little more about the person and what took them so long to register. Ingrain the thought in their mind that they have another choice but to tell you the truth to prove they are worthy of your trust. Then allow them to cross.

Considering we don’t know if this will follow through, we should have a representative from the united states to go and make sure that nothing is willingly given. Therefore, we would know that the plan is following through smoothly and won’t have any problems. But if we didn’t have trust issues towards other nations trying to destroy ours, we wouldn’t have to worry about immigrants being a threat to this nation. We would be welcoming and figure out the best way to the problem without it turning into a war. Illegal immigrants are a threat to this nation. This topic would not be a problem if they weren’t. Especially because most illegal immigrants don’t put forth the effort to make themselves available to be considered a citizen. They believe that what they have is not enough and try to figure out an easier solution. Like an underground trail that crosses Mexico’s border. Being on the lookout every time they turn the corner because all they want is to live a better life. While the actual drug lords and cartels and other terrorists easily come through the border every day causing more trouble. And making it harder for the people that need to come over here and have a better life for themselves and their families.
