Are animals moral beings? Is it morally right for a person to test products on animals? I ask my self these questions when it comes to the topic of animal testing. All Iivmg organisms are part of an ongoing cycle; from the tiny panicles in the air to plants to human beings, were all correlated in one way or another. All the things in between plants and humans need to be present for existence because one could not be present without the other and the life cycle chain would be broken.
This chain works in an orderly fashion that was created to be managed and ruled by natural resources not human Judgment, so what happens when humans want to play that role of changing what has been determined? (Le. using certain species to experiment for human purposes.) This has been an environmental issue that has many environmental scientists concerned because animals are used by experimenters as models to test human products.
But who is to say whether these animals are moral beings or not? Who is to say animal testing is right orwrong? In this research assignment. Will discuss the pros and the cons of laboratory testing on animals. Laboratory animal testing is important in the areas of biomedical research. product safety testing, and education. Doctors/researchers use laboratory animals to test different medicines; their reactions and side effects. As well as developing veterinary techniques this is good because we are able to find cures as well as remedies for minor and major illnesses.
If it were not for this animal testing many cures for many diseases/illnesses would never have been discovered. The public uses animals in a negative way they use laboratory animal testing to analyze the effectiveness and safety of many consumer products (such as cosmetics, household cleaning products, pesticides, chemicals, and drugs; this I believe is wrong) Lastly, educators from elementary school through college use animals as part of the teaching process.
They include the dissection of worms, frogs, fetal pigs, etc in early science classes: and in college medical students use animals to learn surgical procedures and techniques. The point that Im trying to make is that in all of these situations, animals suffer and have to undergo physical pain that otherwise is not part of their natural environment. Animal rights activists are working on reducing or even replacing the number of animals used in these experiments, or at least to reduce the pain of these poor creatures. Rats and mice make up the majority of animals used in research (it is said that they have some of the same internal features as humans.) Rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, hogs, and cats are other animals that are used for experimentation.
Animal testing has been going on for a great many years now, but even as technology advances we have yet to discover a replacement to laboratory animals Some good thing that come from animal testing are that a person is guaranteed that a product. Will be good/safe when they purchase it, a justification used is that it is better to hurt an animal versus killing them or possibly hurting human beings. Because according to the people that do these experiments animals are not moral creatures and it does not matter whether they are hurt or not, as long as it is not a human being that is being hurt. Most of what we know about medicine and our internal organs comes from animal research.
People against animal research argue that animals are moral beings like humans are and that they have the right to life if you think about it every time you take medicine you are in a way taking part in an experiment, to see how your body is. Will react to certain chemicals, while it is difficult for people to place animals on an equal scale to humans, who is to say animals are or arent as morally important than human beings In conclusion. It Will be extremely hard to ever be completely be fair to animals and treat them as moral beings; whether it is wrong to test them for our own purposes. They have always been a part of our everyday life and no kind of new technology will ever place them. I believe that animal testing is 100% wrong because we are exposing innocent animals to harmful chemicals and harmful procedures. Also, animals are very much moral creatures as are humans and I think they should be treated with more importance than now because they are a component of the life cycle chain and every thing in the cycle is equally important.
