The stance on whether to use animals for scientific experimentation has been very controversial to many people in society. Decisions are made to use unfortunate animals to experiment for the safety of humans, but a dog is a man’s best friend, right? What’s the point in harming or possibly killing the poor animal if all we use it for is our personal usage like makeup, handbags, coats, or hair-care products? Then why not use organic products? The community has the funds to pay for organic substances, so why not get over your petty wishes and take into consideration another life?

Animal cruelty are the unnecessary acts inflicted on animals to cause them agony.

Law after law and we still have yet to contain the brutal suffering on experimental animals. As said in this article, “Animal Abuse”, “However, the first postcolonial anti-cruelty law was not enacted until 1821, when Maine’s state legislature made it illegal to beat horses or cattle cruelly” (Girgen).

People find it amusing to beat the shit out of animals that caused no harm towards that person. So then what’s the point? Is the point that people in the society are all lowlifes with nothing better to do with their lives?

Animals are neglected and forced to struggle with life. There are a lot of different ways that people in our society abuse their animals. Some have the audacity to physically beat their poor animals. They might say that the dog attempted to attack them, but in reality, they probably did nothing to inflict harm on their owner.

People just harm their animals for the publicity, or they find the pain and suffering of their best friend. Other people starve their animals of food and water. The understanding of why some think it’s okay to do that is unreal. It also involves the fighting of the animal. A lot of people make their dogs and chickens fight, then bet money on which animal will win. Studies have shown that children who were abused by their parents are more likely to abuse their animals or children when they grow up. The article, “Youthful animal abuse and later problem behavior outcomes: findings from two generations”, it states that, “The current study extends previous research by Knight et al. (2014) that examined whether parents’ history of animal abuse predicted their later involvement in intimate partner violence perpetration and victimization” (Simmons). Some people just take out their anger on their pets for revenge from past experiences. Again, they find it amusing or entertaining to cause pain on another life for no goddamn reason.

Certain companies use animals to experiment their products on to see if it is safe to use on humans. Most of the makeup that everyone wears on a daily basis was tested on animals. Peta states, “For instance, L’Oréal, which doesn’t test on animals in the United States, pays for deadly testing in China, where archaic and painful experiments on animals are required for cosmetics.” (These Beauty Brands Are Still Tested on Animals) Brands like Benefit, Clinique, Maybelline, OPI, and Victoria Secret are common brands that test on animals for their makeup and perfume. It can be hard to identify which companies test on animals because, Peta states, “The U.S. Food and Drug Administration doesn’t regulate ‘cruelty-free’ or ‘not tested on animals’ packaging labels, so companies can put this on their packaging even if the product or ingredients have been tested on animals” (These Beauty Brands Are Still Tested on Animals). A lot of people don’t realize how many companies utilize animals for their products.

Plenty of clothing stores skin the sheep, lambs, raccoons, and lions, tigers and bears. Some are endangered animals, which people hunt just for their skin for floor mats or coats. No one wonders why animals on the streets or out in the wilderness always go missing, and no one wonders why all these products aren’t made in the United States. Crime after crime and people still don’t understand the realism behind killing other lives for their own benefit. The people sitting next to you could be abusing their animals at home. Your beauty products could have been tested on all kinds of animals and you might not even been aware. No one realizes how many people abuse animals on a daily basis, but giving awareness is something that we, as a nation, need to emphasize more.
