Every time you want to give up remember the story of the ant that tried many times to carry the seed till it succeeded’ was what my father used to tell me when I was a child to regenerate my ambition.
The motivation of my parent along with the diligent, hard-working style and giving personalities instilled in me since my childhood, a drive toward helping people and striving to succeed both qualities I found in the Pediatric Infectious Disease, and why I choose it as a carrier.
As a child, I lived through the war in Saudi Arabia with nearby Iraq and witnessed the atrocities of war and the untimely deaths of many people. Those memories stayed with me as I grew up and, along with the current war in my country Syria and the death of too many innocent children, made me increasingly committed to a career where I long to relieve the pain and suffering of those around me.
My commitment, passion and love for Pediatric Infectious Disease are what enabled me to enter one of the most competitive medical schools in the Republic of Sudan in February of 2009. Throughout medical school, clinical experience, and research, the pediatrics Infectious Disease remains the one that has brought the most enthusiasm and zeal to my style of practice. It has evolved my way I of thinking about the medical field as I found myself part of a problem-solving atmosphere full of rich clinical practice and advanced patient management.
Among my different medical school rotations, the challenging and rewarding experience I found in Pediatric Infectious Disease made it the most enjoyable specialty for me.
This love was further propagated during my residency training in pediatric in Saudi Arabia where I was exposed to a wide
variety of congenital heart disease and other complicated cardiac cases. I explored the beauty Of Pediatric Infectious Disease and the humanity that is unique in the relationship with patients, and that extended beyond assisting them to get well into a more personal connection of prolonged support and caring for the disease. Close bonds were established when I counseled, educated and was cared for the patient when he needed me the most. Although I experienced this many times during my practice, it was rewarding when I drew a smile and received thanks from the patient after treatment. In turn, I was thankful to all patients who taught me the strong will and determination they had shown throughout their disease. This special atmosphere of pediatrics Infectious Disease training inspired me to pursue it as the field of my choice.
Volunteering is one of the top priorities in my life. During my medical school time, I volunteered to help people in poor communities in many health caravans. Also, during my residency I volunteered to teach the medical students at Al-Qasim University.
I hope to continue my medical education through a Pediatric Infectious Disease program that encourages a team atmosphere where residents, doctors, nurses and other health professionals work together for the good of their patients. I am enthusiastic about training at a program that involves clinical practice, education, and research to extend the survival of the patient and improve the quality of his life.
Finally, the saying ‘If you want to invest, invest in yourself,’ pushes me to keep learning and strive for further improvement.
