Typhoid fever is a disease that was originally found in hogs, which now many humans can get in countries that are non-industrialized. Typhoid fever is an infectious bacterial fever with a breakout of red spots on the chest and abdomen and intestinal irritation. Many believe that typhoid fever has been around since 430 BC, some even believe that this fever was responsible for widespread plague in Athens. Theobald Smith discovered this disease in hogs. Typhoid Fever can be an interesting disease to study due to the way it is transmitted.

There are four main stages which can usually last about a week. In the first week the fever is barely spreading which means The person with the fever will be weak will be coughing and will have a slow heart rate. Nose bleeds and abdominal pain will be common throughout the week. During the second week your fever will be high and heart rate will be very low , many also get agitated and confused easily during this week, red spots may appear around the chest and abdomen.
The abdomen may get bloated and you might have diarrhea yes or constipation. In the third week, serious complications such as intestinal bleeding may occur. Another life threatening thing that could happen is a hole in the intestine at the distal ileum, which would lead to peritonitis and septicemia. Your brain could get encephalitis, encephalitis is inflammation of the brain, which is very rare but it is usually due to infection. Your gall bladder may become inflamed, your heart and bone tissue and abscesses may manifest. On the fourth week that’s when the fever slowly goes away. Typhoid fever spreads through contaminated food and water for obviously by having close contact with someone who is already infected with the disease. Sharing a cup or water bottle is an example of how to get typhoid fever. If you share a cup or a water bottle with someone that is already infected you will be infected too.
The person who drank out of the cup that was not infected would be now because of the other person’s germs and saliva. This fever is very common in any non-industrialized countries such as Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.Antibiotics are the most common treatment for typhoid fever. One of the medications that can be used for typhoid fever is chloramphenicol this is the universal treatment for this disease. Ever since 1948 – 1970 the widespread resistance occurred thanks to chloramphenicol. Typhoid fever can be dangerous disease if not treated.Typhoid fever is an infectious disease but could easily can get rid of by just taking some antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, but if not, it should go away within 3 to 4 weeks if the disease still doesn’t go away in that time, see a doctor.
