‘Buried Child” is a play that has featured a dramatic family which has a lot of secrets. Nonetheless, Haile represents a woman who does not value her family. She is a selfish and alcoholic woman who does not care about her family. She hangs out with Father Dewis all the time and has an improper relationship with him. Halie always put herself in the first place and value herself as the most.

Additionally, Haile does not reveal any virtue as a woman.

The reason is she does not only flirt with Father Dewis but also had an incest relationship with her son, Tilden. She did not fulfill his duty as a wife and a mom. She has a dishonest relationship with Father Dewis, even more, she carries Father Dewis to her home. The most incredible thing is Halie had a baby with her son Tilden.

On the other hand, “Fences” presents an interesting play that also showcases family drama, failures, struggles, and successes.

Rose represents a character that is the complete opposite of Haile from “Buried Child.” This is mainly because, as the mother of her children, she is loving and supportive of her family. She is also a religious woman who constantly volunteers at the church.

Additionally, even though she is a housewife, Rose fails to use her free time committing immoralities or actions that can compromise her family, unlike Haile. Instead, she is trying to put her family together. Similarly, she upholds Cory and believes in his football career even when his father prohibited him from attending a match that was important to him.

In Fences, Troy has a daughter with another woman, but Rose chooses to forgive him and accept that girl. Because she knows the little girl is innocent and she wants to keep her family in a stable form. Rose values her family  the most, and she sacrifices herself to save this broken family.

The class has been fascinating, although it was sometimes challenging to review, analyze, as well as understand new concepts. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed each session, and thus I plan to utilize every opportunity that I get to improve my skills using the ideas learned in the course. Throughout the semester, I have learned a lot about theatre production, characters, plays, and settings. This is because I have interacted with works of great scholars who compose, direct, produce, and even edit theatre arts.

As a result, I have enhanced my abilities in writing scripts, creating characters, introducing plays, starting and ending a scene, as well as keeping the audience ‘thirsty.’ For instance, in “Buried Child,” each level of the story presents realistic and striking scenes which make it interesting. On the other hand, “Fences” is a representation of a typical American household, whereby members encounter failures while at the same time portraying their values and vices. Nonetheless, there are additional elements applied by the producer which keep people on their toes a few years later. This helps to open up my mind to new challenges that ensure that my profession is captivating.

Similarly, in other works that I came across, there were factors which contributed to how people perceived the settings of plays alongside good writing. Additionally, being a part of this course has contributed to my academic growth, especially in the organization and management fields.

On the other hand, interacting with different individuals in class has positively impacted my progress and growth as a student. This is because it has been an opportunity that presented different types of ideas which helped me improve in the areas in which I do not perform best. Overall, I have been able to enhance my creativity, oral skills, communication, as well as time and budgeting abilities.
