People say violence is no joke and many people can agree when you hear or say that because they see things on television, the internet, or the newspaper, but would you believe me if I would say words hurt more than action John F Kennedy once said “Those who make Peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable” I strongly agree with John because no matter where you are there’s always something going in this cruel world so in my opinion they,re always going to be violent but is it positive or negative violence.
What is more effective violence or nonviolence, I truly believe that words hurt more than actions. I would have to say that nonviolent activism does effect more than violence activism and let me tell you the pros and cons of one and other.
When doing violence protest you are showing more signs than just protesting you are showing the world that you want to show more than what you are protesting about they want you to show aggression so you even sometimes forget what you protesting about.
Although many uses violent protesting to Stand your grown to show the government that you marked your territory and I think this a Pro you are showing the government that you guys are not leaving no matter the cause. Another Pro I can say when I hear violent protest the move a very fast pace one thing leads to another you can be at Point A and boom You are at Point C violent protest move very quickly.
When watching the news on TV that’s when it hits you-you really start thinking what really is more effective you see all these protests, but you tell yourself are violent protests really effective and after you see the numbers pop up it really blows your mind How you cause so much trouble but your Failure rate is 60% and Success is 25% and 15% partial success Gonzalez 3 It really blows my mind when thinking that you go through all that trouble making all the mess for possibly no reason because you have 30% of winning for what you are protesting about and 70% of losing.
When I see violent protest I feel like most protests are very disorganized they look like they lose control of their people after minutes when u start of the protest. What comes to your mind when you talk about non-violence protests what catches my attention right away is the Non it speaks for itself pretty much says no. I feel like when protesting there is really no need for violence words can really speak for themselves also what comes to my mind is Rosa park didn’t use any violence just tried to prove a point and achieved. She once also said “People always say that I didn’t give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn’t true. I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was forty-two. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in ”.
This is one of my favorite quotes because when I use to work taking care of kids from 6am till sometimes 8pm it was very exhausting and I still had to walk another 30 min home so once I got home, I was very tired physically and mentally and that’s why I totally agree I would have done the same thing. I also learned she didn’t use any violence and still won what she was protesting for. I feel like there are way many more pros than cons on this one especially how it will most likely be more organized and you pretty much just bringing your voice and body their no need for violence especially how nonviolence protest have about 50% success rate 20% partial and 20% failure rate and that’s what I thought that non violence is more likely to succeed then protest but don’t think their no cons and One is Time it’s very sad knowing that it would take a long time for the government to take action and especially knowing the government might even take months on seeing what the protest is about and take action.
