Metaphor
A comparison of two unlike objects without using like, than, or as.
Example :: The blue shirt was a deep sky-blue.

Simile
A comparison of two unlike objects using “like” or “as”
Example :: “That ball is yellow like the sun.”

Alliteration
The repetition of initial consonant sounds.
Examples :: Bed Bath & Beyond

Hyperbole
A figure of speech that uses exaggeration to express strong emotion, make a point, or evoke humor.

Examples :: That man was as tall as a skyscraper.
The hole was so deep I could see China.
