Making Decisions in The Final Problem vs Raymonds Run

In both The Final Problem and Raymonds Run the main characters both go through a man vs. self desitions in their heads. They both had to figure out what was best for themselves to do.

 Raymonds Run

In Raymonds Run Hazel “ Squeaky” Parker she loves running and she believes that she is the best runner ever. Her rival in the May Day race in a new girl on the block named Gretchen. Gretchen is a fast runner two, but Squeaky still thinks that she is faster than her.

Squeaky is determined to beat Gretchen and win the race. Squeaky has a brother named Raymond, who has downs syndrome. She takes care of Raymond during the day and stands up for him when people are talking badly about him. During the race, while She and Gretchen are running she sees Raymond running next to her on the other side of the fence, and she was so surprised at how well Raymond could run.

In the end, she does win the race but was not thinking about her sweet victory over Gretchen. In the end, she was thinking about her brother and his running and what she was going to do. Squeaky made up in her head that she was going to coach Raymond and help him run. At this moment Squeaky stopped thinking about her self and thought about helping someone else she started being selfless for the first time in her running career.

In The Final Problem Sherlock Holmes is a genius and a detective, he can solve a case very quickly because she reads people, I don’t know how but he can.

Sherlock has a nemesis who is also a genius, but this genius is also a criminal mastermind. The nemesis name is Moriarty. Sherlock is so determined to be the one that takes down Moriarty forever. During the ending of the story, Sherlock is faced with Moriarty he is given the choice of keep on trying to defeat Moriarty and possibly die in the process or to give up on taking his nemesis down and go on with his life and live. During this in his mind, he is trying to decide if he should keep trying and possibly die or to give up and live. In the end, they both end up falling down the waterfall together ending each other at the same time. Sherlock chooses in his head that he would take Moriarty down even if it would cost him his life. This shows that both of these characters had to make life decisions that would change their lives forever or to not make those decisions.
