There are “outsiders.” An outsider is someone who doesn’t fit in. Outsiders make a good book character because readers will want to see what happens to them when they don’t fit in. The outsiders tn the books are Charles (Chuck) Colson, (True Son) John C. Butler, and Oliver Twist. Light in the Forest. In this book True Son lives with his Indian father, Indian mother, and friends. But the government declares that all white captives who the Indians have be returned.
True Son Must go back to his real family in the town of the Paxton Boys. He lives with his family and hates sleeping inside. He thinks the whites are white because they cut of their air supply. He also has to wear white clothing and talk to and shake hands with people at a party. He meet Bejance a slave. Bejance say he would rather be with the Indians than the white.
True son wants to be an Indian but on day he finds half arrow dead.
The n he sees little crane and together they try to scalp uncle Wilse but someone sees them so they run away. Then the Indians try to kill whites on a boat to avenge little crane. Oliver Twist. Oliver Twist is a boy whose mother dies while he is a baby. He is taken in by a band of Criminals who want to teach him to pick pocket. He watches as 2 other boys pick pocket Mr. Brownlow. Oliver is caught instead of the other boys and is taken on trial.
Just as he is about to be sentenced in comes the book seller and says, This boy did not do it it was 2 other boys. Oliver faints And Mr. Brownlow takes him home and is cared for by Mrs. Bedwin. Oliver is Innocent to the Crimes and does not know it is wrong. He and Bill Sikes try to rob a house but Oliver is shot and left behind. Oliver wanders and winds up at the same house they tried to rob. He is taken in and cared for.
Born Again. Chuck Colson is the “Hatchet Man.” He want to do everything he can to stay as an direct aide to Nixon. He even did things that involved him with a scandal. He was sent to jail and soon became a true christian and converted other inmates. He and a friend tried to smuggle die int the prison to die jackets so they could stay warm. He also was told someone was out to get him. He is an outsider because he would do things form power and he did not even realize it was wrong. He had also to make a band play again for the president. An outsider sometimes does not fit in or act like others. In some books the outsider does not feel like he or she belongs there. Some times an outsider is innocent to whats right. Some outsiders even do wrong because they want power or trust.
