Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, a Novel by Emily Bronte

Reading for pleasure has always been one of my favorite hobbies. In fact, I started to read more and more after I read Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. The character of Heathcliff caught my attention and in no time, Heathcliff became my favorite fictional character. In this essay, I will describe some of his character traits. Heathcliff is a young man who has not been showered with much love during his childhood. This made him quite a stonehearted person because he did not know how to express love when he himself has not received any.

But he is very good hearted. And this can be said because of the love that he feels for Catherine. His love is full of passion and true feelings.

Almost, like the love that is usually found in fairytales. Heathcliff’s love for Catherine has changed his life since Catherine became center to his life. Although Catherine married Edgar and Heathcliff married Isabella, they could not maintain their married life to the fullest, There was still their love for each other which was present.

In fact, after the death of Catherine, Heathcliff was not afraid to show his affection and love for Catherine. He sat near the dead body of Catherine and started crying. His love for Catherine seems to be an unconditional one and this is what makes him my most favorite fictional character.

Although he exists only in the book, it seems that he is an authentic character. He connects to the readers and people who love unconditionally can easily identify with him.
