Music is the art of expressing ideas and emotions in sound forms by using the elements of rhythm, melody, and harmony through voices, instruments, or both. Music has always been a part of everyone’s life. No matter where people go or what people are doing they are always listening to music. Besides the pleasure music provides to us individually, it also connects the world and is a universal language that can respond to our individual and collective emotions. Music today has changed from the generations before us.
Music has to change to adapt to what the listeners like, and what they want.
Picking one example of music that I feel best expresses the many facets of me is like asking a parent to pick a favorite child. It is almost impossible to do, even though deep down there is one genre of music you like more than all the other ones. There are many genres of music that I enjoy listening to, but of course, there is that one genre that I like more than all the others.
For many Americans, the country isn’t just a type of music, it’s a lifestyle. From drinking beer at a tailgate or driving a pickup down the backroads, country music has made its way into the hearts and minds of many Americans. Although there are many country songs out there that don’t have much meaning, anyone who thinks the country is just about ‘tractors’ or ‘drinking beer’ hasn’t heard the very best of it.
Songs like “Beautiful Crazy” by Luke Combs and “Grow Old” by Florida Georgia Line will change your mind. There is just something about the serious country songs that have my heart. They tell a story. There is nothing better than listening to a country song and feeling like there is something that relates to you in it. It makes you listen to the lyrics instead of just singing along. When you feel that a song connects to your life it is more than just the rhythm and melody that speaks to you, it’s the actual lyrics that jump out to you and pull you in.
Whenever I hear country music, I slowly disconnect from the world surrounding me. I don’t know where to begin in telling you why country music is what defines me as a person, it just kind of soothes the soul, mellows you out, and just relaxes you. The country brings alive a heritage that is slowly being forgotten. I listen to it all the time and I feel as if it is also my comfort music. Country music is a way to escape and leave my troubles behind for a while. There is not much that is better than driving around in the summertime, with the windows rolled down, the wind blowing in your face, and a good country song blaring on the radio.
