Diverse Bronx artist: Rochelle Feinstein

Rochelle Feinstein is native to the Bronx and is a very diverse artist. Feinstein is an abstract artist who can use just about anything from newspapers to photos to make a beautiful piece of art. Her artwork has meaning behind it. Feinstein’s work has left both social and personal effects on the viewer. Her pieces have left an impact on abstract artwork. A lot of her artwork is based on current or major events. She has based art on the Iraq war and other political events.

She also played an important role in the contemporary art world. She was a professor at Yale, and helped teach the next generation of artists.

Feinstein’s art has a deep understanding of the world even though the world  isn’t perfect. Her art is optimistic but still reflects on the past and where we’ve been. Her artwork is also said to have a bit of humor to it. Her work is very colorful and features many unique designs.

Some of her pieces are 3D and some are 2D. Her art isn’t necessarily “by the books.” She puts her flare in her art and doesn’t have restrictions. Feinstein’s art is unique and she doesn’t seem to care if people believe her art should have been done differently.

I have learned a lot from the article that I could apply to my art. The biggest thing I learned from the article was that it’s okay for your art to be different.

I always try to follow general guidelines when making art which I think holds me back. I never make art that is a  super unique art. And I think my art isn’t super unique because I’m afraid of being different. It’s hard for me to come up with project ideas because they overthink them. Now I’m going to stick with an idea and not be afraid for it to be to bold!

I didn’t know that Rochelle Feinstein was an artist but I’m going to do something. I didn’t know Hilma Af Klint was an artist. Klint was an abstract artist who uses a variety of colors that made her artwork very bold. Klint wasn’t sure at first if the world could understand her art, so her work was very private. Klint was born in Stockholm in 1862 and eventually studied arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Hilma is known for being the future of art. Her work was focused mainly on Theosophy and spiritualism. She didn’t want her art to be discovered until after her death and no one’s quite sure why. She wanted her art to be displayed in a building that featured a spiral going up leading to a glass ceiling, featuring her art at each level. Her art also featured a lot of spirals and no one’s quite sure why.
