The Tao is a word that signifies the “way” or the “path”, It is the intuitive knowing of life that can be known through the living experiences of one’s every day being. It is the flow of the universe that keeps it balanced and ordered Lao Tzu, the founder ofTaoism and author of the Tao Te Ching, says that the Tao is not a name or a thing but natural order of the universe that can’t be described because it is not a concept, but it is evident in one’s being of aliveness, It is “eternally nameless” (Toa Te Ching-32 Lao Tzu).
Lao’s philosophy is that the natural order of life is the best path to follow rather than fighting against it Taoism does not identify man’s will as the root problem Rather, it inserts that man must place his will in harmony with the universe. The philosophy recognizes that the universe already works harmoniously according to its own ways; if a person exerts his will against or upon the world he will disrupt the harmony that already exists, he will go “against the flow of life’s.
By understanding himself, man may gain knowledge of the universe, and vice versa, Confucianism was founded by Confucius around the same time Taoism was founded It is an ethical and philosophical belief system about social order than the existence of god, The teachings of Confucianism differ from Taoism because the main ideas are that people should put the needs of their family and community first.
And they don’t follow the Tao. The path to salvation is humans should live and behave in such a way to promote ideal social relations rather than to act based on the expectations of rewards or punishments after death Taoism and Confucianism have lived together in Chine for over 2,000 years While Confucianism deals with social matters, Taoism concerns itself with the search for meaning.
They share common beliefs about man, society, and the universe Both began as philosophies, later taking on religious tones. Regardless of the disagreements between Lao Tzu and Confucius, both Taoism and Confucianism have served as guides to the Chinese I think that it is possible to practice more than one religion but a lot of people don’tjust because they were raised on set religion and they believe that their religion is the one and true only way It would be hard for someone to practice two separate religions because every religion is different and they don’t have the same concepts, values, or beliefs. I think that having different worldviews may be lot easier just because it’s not something that is set and stones I feel like there are over 100 different worldviews compared to about 8 major religions
