The Great Depression is known as an economic crisis of the sass, it happened on a Tuesday of October 29th, 1929 many call it Black Tuesday and it lasted until the early sass. The stock market crashed and the value of an item costing 25 cents, now costs 2$ and many people couldn’t afford to keep the luxuries of things they wanted.

Banks went out of business because people would rush to their banks and take their savings In hopes of not losing all they had invested In their stocks.

Large amounts of people lost all of their savings and went bankrupt, most would sell anything they could on the streets, some would sell fruits or vegetables for 5 cents In times square trying to make any cent they could. Workers hours got shortened and they couldn’t afford to provide for their families, lots of workers got let go and millions were left without Jobs resulting In families becoming homeless.

President Hoover created Hoverflies, they were small shelters made out of cheap wood to those who could not afford to provide for homeless and there were soup kitchens for those who were In need of food.

Also food coupons were for certain amounts of food a family could have at that time. Mothers would make due with whatever they had and make their food last as long as possible.
