Kincaid`s love for England quickly turns into reality. When she finally goes to the country side of England she realized that everything she was told about it was not truth. As she arrived, she found out that the people were rude and the land wasn’t as beautiful as she tough and everyone made it seems to be.

As she walked around the city, they were big monuments, famous street names, and sights but they were useless to the people in England. This showed who they are, how they truly act and are perceived with they own history and kind. Kincaid refers to English people as “White Cliffs of Dove” because they skin were so light, so delicate, so frail and so ugly from the inside and the outside.

In England she was a slave who serve at a servant in a white family, who live was conquest subjugation, humiliation, forced to forget, and even told that she couldn`t eat the same food as them. She holds a very strong dislike for it and even claims that she hates England. To Kincaid the whole perspective on England has changed. As an adult she knows better and realized that her beliefs of England of been the best place in earth to live were wrong.
