The Business Development Executive will focus on getting new clients, leading the company in a direction, and looking over management, and this role will pursue and meet with future or potential clients. The role of the Business Executive will also research potential clients, network, and follow up on web leads. They will also make sure that customers are offered all services and make sure they are satisfied. In addition, they also lead presentations in meetings work with clients to create solutions for their needs, and consult throughout the sales process (Infante).
“Rule No. 1: Never lose money; Rule No. 2: Don’t forget Rule No. 1.”(Seagate). Being a business executive is also very challenging and competitive. If the company starts to lose money or goes in a direction they don’t feel is correct, they will ask this person to step down or leave. They must always look for a way to make money. Pursuing a career in the business executive field requires many years of hard work and education, provides great benefits, and large amounts of money.
Some of the most successful and famous CEOs and business executives include Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Jeff Bezos. Bill gates are the CEO of Microsoft one of the world’s leading companies in computer technology. Bill Gates inspired the making of the home computer, commercialized the operating system, launched windows 95, became the wealthiest man in the world, and started a foundation with his wife. In addition, Steve Jobs is very similar. He started the personal computer revolution, introduced the mouse and graphical user interface, and revolutionized the sale of music.
“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently”(Hasbro). All these great CEOs try to leave a lasting legacy and a strong impact on the world with their great success. They all try to keep their reputation good and honest.
There are many aspects to education planning and the biggest factor is money. Everyone wants to go to the best school possible for their career choice but it is not always possible due to low income or even grades. Grades also play a big role in someone’s school and education path. It decides the college or school someone will be attending. Business Administration majors typically have the most diverse course structure of all business majors. The core business classes required will focus on accounting, management, marketing, finance, business law, economics, information systems, and ethics. Currently, the most prized business school is Harvard business school, an Ivy League school in the northeast region of the United States, with a score of 100. It is also one of the most competitive business schools. The average undergraduate GPA is 3.71, the acceptance rate is a low 9.9%, the average GMAT score is a 731, the average starting salary after graduation is $158,049, and the percent employed at graduation is a high 78.9 percent (Infante). Best said by Frank Sachs ‘College is a match to be made, not a prize to be won explains that one must work hard to obtain their dreams and must earn college and future career” (Adams 1).
“Unless you’re a founder, your chances of making it to the top job without a degree are virtually non-existent. Just over half of Fortune 100 CEOs have a degree in business, economics, or accounting, while 27% studied engineering or science, and 14% law” (Seagate). Fortunately, studies have shown that more successful business CEOs studied at lower-ranked colleges. The CEO of Ford Alan Mulally, for example, studied at the University of Kansas, the CEO of AT&T Randall L. Stephenson graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma. These studies have also shown that since they are studying at lower-ranked schools it builds their confidence because they aren’t in classes with some of the most intelligent people in rigorous classes.
To continue, best said by Infante “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently” (infante). Many business executives build empires from the ground. When someone is at the top there is only one place that person can go and that’s down. So they must keep their promises and serve the company and not corrupt or cause scandals within. “There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else” (Hasbro). CEOs must also be certain that all customers are satisfied and that all employees are doing what they are supposed to because customers are their main target because they bring all the money to the company. A customer can fire everybody because they can shop for someone else and if enough customers do that the company can’t make money.
Furthermore, to become the CEO of a company a selection committee examines the candidate fully meaning both personality and track record. “In a survey of 800 executives, 78% stated that a person’s track record is a poor indicator of future success, while 87% believe that personality traits explain the difference in performance between good and great” (Watts). Although it is very difficult to measure someone’s traits it isn’t fully reflected in the decision of who will take the position. Personal drive and ambition are the top-rated traits for a CEO to be considered, Bill Gates, for example spent ten thousand hours on his high school computer programming at the age of thirteen. Another very important character trait is communication skills. This is very important because as the head of the company one must learn how to communicate information effectively and quickly so there are no misunderstandings between anyone.
Finally, a business executive is very important because he leads a company in a certain direction. A business executive also helps the growth of the company which helps it expand and profit more. This role also comes with great benefits and pay. Also, in this role, someone is the boss of everyone and doesn’t have to take orders from someone above him/her because they are the highest rank. They also have great pay benefits because they are paid the most and large amounts of it.
