Guatemala is mostly known for its volcanoes, but also for is extraordinary and breathe taking Mayan culture. The best Mayan ruins are located in Tikal, Petén. There are around 3,000 ruins in Tikal National Park. There are about 40 volcanoes, 3 are actually active volcanoes and others are mostly dormant. Most of their natural disasters are volcanic eruptions. On June 3, 2018 there was a tragic volcanic eruption, nearly 200 people were killed. Since 1929 it is the most deadly eruption in Guatemala. In the lowlands of Guatemala the climate is very hot and humid.

In the highlands, such as mountains there are cooler temperatures. Guatemala is a tropical country and have many rainforest. In the rainforests you can find animals such as jaguars, pumas, monkeys, and different sorts of snakes. There, you can find avocado plants or trees, and Caribbean pine. The Capital of Guatemala is Guatemala City. The current issues with the environment of Guatemala is that there is deforestation on the Petén rainforest, soil erosion, and water pollution.

They also have many natural resources, but two of them are nickel and petroleum. The area of the country is 42,042 mi squared. People Their primary language is Spanish, but there are 21 other Mayan languages. There are 3 different types of religion in Guatemala, such as protestant, indigenous Mayan, but the most dominant one is Roman Catholic. The most popular sport in Guatemala is soccer. There are different activities like hiking and caving, or you can go swimming in hot springs located in the Fuentes Georginas. Men’s clothing is not very different from ours, they wear jeans and a T-shirt.

There are turquoise pools and underground waterfalls. Some people scale cliffs to jump into the pools. You can also clime up a mountain to a viewing platform called El Mirador.
