Integrated Brain-Body: Perfect Posture and Spatial Orientation.

When the brain and body are totally integrated, it is easy for a person to maintain spatial orientation, balance, sit or stand tall and erect, maintain evenness in the gait while walking or running, and be aware of and respond to surrounding situations.

When the brain and body are not totally integrated, the way our brains process information is compromised, affecting mental and physical performance. This lack of integration is referred to as Functional Neurological Disorganization. It is a common occurrence impeding human performance on the field, in the classroom, on the job, or in relationships — really, in all aspects of life.

Our job at Porter Wellness is to connect the pieces of brain and body so you can achieve your optimum performance.

The Neurology

There are numerous reflex neurologic loops in human function. Musculoskeletal coordination is dependent on the remarkable interplay and coordination of the body’s complex neurology, to the degree that even the subtle movements of the eyes must remain in total integration with the musculoskeletal system throughout each and every movement of the body.

The execution of certain eye movements can demonstrate numerous instances of inhibition in the body, signaling a disorganized nervous system. Inappropriate body inhibition can also be exhibited through the 12 cranial nerves in some instances.

Through muscle testing, the body can be shown to be inappropriately facilitated and inhibited in various physical movements that appear normal. That is, the body will “turn on and off” inappropriately through its performance ranges and the brain is challenged to obtain optimal function.

The Cause

The broad ranging effects of this disorganization are partially a result of the neurologic response to any injury, no matter how slight. In this way that the full, active performance of any physical movement can be shown to manifest multiple instances of body response inhibition throughout movement, to the detriment of the performance. Injury creates inhibition.

The injury can be physical, but it could also be the result of stress, which causes the body to locally or universally inhibit its own function. In a general way, the entire system locks itself in a fight or flight neurologic response. For unknown reasons, these injury manifestations do not reset themselves to their appropriate neutrality. The fact that the body appears to function in seeming excellence in spite of these faults is a testament to its adaptability.

Performance Integration Technology

Applied Kinesiology makes use of the muscle response of the body and specific subject/technician input as a tool to access functional neurology. This information provides leverage for obtaining large gains in modification of performance. It allows evaluation of neurologic reflexes within the body’s various systems.

Performance Integration relates to many therapeutic approaches. For a highly trained practitioner, the muscle test is a precision tool.

This new technology is painless, without body invasion, or tissue or spine manipulation, while being quick, precise and reproducible. These factors lend to its acceptability, and minimum time and effort for delivery.

Outcomes

These neurologic integration procedures has successfully corrected many functional neurologic expression disorders which are essentially input-output incongruities of the mind and/or body. Application of the technology has consistently enhanced athletic performance. All athletes and others treated have reflected their feelings of increased confidence, sense of well being, centeredness, strength enhancement and more.

The most commonly reported effects from gymnasts, golfers, Naval aviators, dancers, track and field athletes and more are these:

  • Improved balance and coordination
  • Improved ability to handle stress
  • Improved ability to process information
  • Greater self-confidence
  • Greater self-esteem

All recipients demonstrated improved brain and/or body communication by using Applied Kinesiology muscle testing procedures. The improvements manifested as increased strength and reflex response. Their body intelligence clearly increased.

Application

First, muscles are tested to determine if the subject has the pattern of muscle response that indicates neurologic function compromise. If tests are positive, Performance Integration protocol is then applied. When a specific muscle test reveals a weakness, that weakness is used to discover the subject’s counteractive reflexes. These reflexes are then stimulated, and followed by another muscle test. If the test muscle responds normally, it means the fault has been corrected. The reflex stimulus is a light tap.

The patient lies supine on a treatment table as the doctor repeatedly tests muscle and stimulates counteractive reflexes. The treatment, called Performance Integration, is generally painless, without invasion or bony movement, and takes a few minutes. The apparent simplicity of it is quite remarkable.

To perform the treatment, the protocol demands a specific pattern of progress in testing and treatment. It is this protocol that is key to complete and permanent resolution of the body’s disorganization.

Eight treatments are necessary and can be administered in a three day period, with intervals between treatments of four hours.

No negative effect has ever been observed or reported in any treated individual. All ages and types have been treated since 1989.

Repetition of the Integration treatment is not necessary when properly done. Once is enough and results last indefinitely. The few cases where repeat was necessary were head traumas.
