About Super Bowl LIII: An American Football Game

Super Bowl LIII ended up being a low scoring game, leading many to wonder if it was a failure for Sean McVay’s Los Angeles Rams offense. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Rams and Patriots ended up scoring a combined six points.

The low-scoring was a major disappointment for football fans that were expecting high powered offensive plays. However, it was definitely a major let-down for Rams head coach Sean McVay. The Rams ended up losing 13-3, and his strong offense failed to even reach the end zone.

McVay was often praised as the next Bill Belichick and as a revolutionary offensive mind. He’s been able to work with a strong offense that included Todd Gurley, Jared Goff, and Brandin Cooks. His play designs worked and opened things up for the Los Angeles Rams.

LA Rams offense struggled to put up big numbers

In Super Bowl LIII, the Rams ended up only recording 260 total yards and only 14 first downs.

Todd Gurley was held to only 35 yards on 10 carries and Jared Goff was under constant pressure for the entire game. However, we must remember that McVay was facing off against future Hall of Fame head coach Bill Belichick who has managed to shut down offenses when it matters. He’s been able to do this since he was a defensive coordinator with the New York Giants, and it’s why the Patriots continue to be successful over the years.

There were plenty of reasons why the Los Angeles Rams offense failed to perform, but what really matters is results.

While it is definitely a failure for McVay, don’t be surprised when the Rams make a return to the Super Bowl again in the next few years.

Sean McVay focused on improving and looking ahead

Rams head-coach Sean McVay told the media that he was out-coached and that it’s hard to get over the loss. Unlike a regular season game, he doesn’t have the ability to bounce back right away for the next week. This loss will stick with the Rams for a while. McVay acknowledged that play selection did not offer him much of a chance. McVay said that they now have to look back and see how they can do better for our players.

While this loss hurts more than any other loss, the future is looking bright for this team. The organization has a young coach, who was able to hold the Patriots to only 13 points, a star running back and a third-year veteran quarterback who grew a lot this season. The offense will continue to get better and that the Rams will definitely return to the Super Bowl and not have to wait 16 years.
