Yates vs Yellow Wallpaper
The short story “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and an article that tells Andrea Yates’ story have a few similaritiest However, the two stories seem to have more contrastt One big difference between the two is that fact that the article about Andrea Yates is based on true events, while “The Yellow Wallpaper” is not. On the other hand, the big similarity that these two stories have is that they are both about women who suffer from mental illnesses.
The similarities between the stories mostly revolve around the main characters. Besides the two woman having mental issues, they both have husbands who didn‘t help them through it. Another example is that they both believed in what they were doing were the right thing.
The character in “The Yellow Wallpaper” believed that she had to rip the wallpaper off the wall to save the women, whom she thought were stuck in the wall paper, A5 for Yates who thought that killing her children would save them from growing up to bad people and not being able to go to heaven When it comes to the differences between the two stories, they are quite noticeable, such as one being about true story, Another example is the fact the character in “The Yellow Wallpaper” didn’t do anything as drastic as Yates as in killing her own children.
Also, in “The Yellow Wallpaper” the character was obsessed with setting woman free that weren’t trapped and not even real to begin with.

Moreover, Yates had attempted to commit suicide more than once, as for the nameless character in “The Yellow Wallpaper” did not. Also, what might have helped cause Yates mental illness was minister named Michael Woroniecki and his wife Rachel Woroniecki who made comments to her about being a bad mother and the consequences for that being In “The Yellow Wallpaper” the audience really doesn’t know what might have caused her mental illness
