Reason for the Invasion of Iraq in 2003

The 2003 Invasion of Iraq was a military conflict in which United States President George W. Bush and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair sent their troops to invade Iraq. They wanted to disarm the country which had been rumored to have constructed weapons of mass destruction that could destroy the planet. These rumors had been generated after the events of 9/11 which contributed to a lot of racial hatred against people from the Middle East.

Along the way, they planned to depose and/or kill Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, as they believed his dictatorship style regime was not doing any good in the Middle East.

After 8 years and after Bush and Blair were no longer leaders of their respective countries, the invasion had become the Iraq War. It had left over six hundred grand innocent locals along with their great dictator Saddam Hussein dead and the country had been completely war torn. The war was only a partial excess as the foreigners had ended dictatorship in Iraq, but also a major failure given the high number of casualties and the surprising conclusion that the rumors were ACTUALLY FALSE and Iraq did not have a single weapon of mass destruction.

Today, people consider the invasion to be unjust as there was no justification that the small country posed a threat to the entire world and the whole thing happened because two prominent men made an assumption that was deep from the roots of racial hatred, which is hostility to a specific group of people.

This incident connects to the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee because it is similar to the part of the story in which Bob Ewell accuses Tom Robinson of raping Mayella Ewell. This also happened because of racial hatred. This is proven when the lawyer Atticus Finch determines that there is no way that a man in Robinson’s condition could have managed the scars and bruises on Mayella Ewell.

It is somewhat evident that Bob Ewell only accused accused Robinson as the latter was black and just like most of the southern community of Maycomb, Ewell disliked black people. The community of Maycomb represents the majority of Americans post 9/11 they both disliked a group of people for separate reasons; The Americans disliked people from the Middle East, mainly Iran and Iraq as they blamed them for all the carnage and deaths on 9/11 and the citizens in Maycomb disliked black people because they were southerners who considered black people to be slaves and did not like the idea of blacks having their freedom.
