Simon Bolivar and Toussaint L’Ouverture both accomplished great things. They both made history and shaped Latin America as we know it. Simon Bolivar changed history of Latin America by organizing and achieving the independence of much of Latin American and northern south America. This happen late 1700s and 1800s. Simon Jose Antonio de la Santisima Trinidad Bolivar y Palacios was born in Caracas, Venezuela July 24 of 1783. When his parent died Bolivar inherited all their fortune. By the time of his first communion, he was already an orphan.

Years later he started traveling to Europe and married the daughter of a nobleman. She died a year later after returning to Caracas. He returns to Europe and swore to free Venezuela. He returned to Venezuela and joined a group of patriots that seized Caracas in 1810 and proclaimed Venezuela as an independent government. In 1813 Simon Bolivar recaptured Caracas from the Spaniards. He then became the dictator of Venezuela. He believed the people needed a firm hand because they weren’t ready to yet have a democracy government.
