Life is Beautiful; More Than What Meets the Eye

In the still moments, before the waking hour, the sun slowly peaks out spreading over the horizon, garnishing each town with a luminous glow. Homes are filled with soft breathing and dreams that leave a mysterious awe in the waking. The air is cold and crisp to the bone, yet the peace warms us from the inside out. We take for granted the wonders that the world surrounds us. Life is beautiful; more than what meets the eye. The changing of seasons, the split seconds of anguish, to the moments of liveliness, this is where beauty is found.

Autumn, winter, spring, and summer are what make up the personality of the outdoors. Each season brings a new beginning, a new inquisitiveness, refreshing one’s mind of what has yet to come. The turning of budding greens to the warm red leaves, forewarning of the blanket of snow that is to come.

The pitter-patter of the rain and warm wind tenderly sweeping across your face, what is better than a breezy summer day? Flowers sway gently in the breeze, birds chirp so eloquently, amity claims the scenery.

What could be lovelier? Beauty cannot only be seen on the outside of the world, but can be found within us. Your blood is pulsing, your heart is racing faster and faster, yet when all hope is lost beauty still can be found. Cheeks flushed, eyes lost in a daze, hands clenched by your side, yet seconds later a part of you gains control. Watching from a distance, with curiosity, you feel the tiny details of emotion sweep across the face.

Slowly, a twinkle in the eye is found, a grimace shifts to a calmed grin, and the sense of worry has departed the air.

It is these moments of anguish that leave you hanging with curiosity. How is it possible to go from where all hope is lost to suddenly one is overcome with peace. This transformation demonstrates that even at a time of anguish, beauty is still found. On the contrary, moments of liveliness expose the beauty from within us, bringing beauty from the inside to the out. A father’s love, a mother’s prayer, a toast with friends, a wedding dance, a soldier coming home from war, a New Year’s dream, a lover’s kiss, hard goodbyes, Christmas lights and fireworks, this is what makes us feel alive. Living or dying, laughing and crying, moments like these are cherished in the backs of our minds.

They impact each of us in a different kind of way, leaving little flashes of the past moments we have shared with others. Our eyes tell different stories, narrating the untold adventures of the past. The views that we see are only mere glimpses of a bigger picture that life holds. “Life is like a roller coaster. It has its ups and downs, but it is your choice to scream or enjoy the ride.” (Anonymous) Beauty can be found in the changing of the seasons, within the split seconds of anguish, to the moments of liveliness. The world is the wrapping paper to the gift of life. Life is made up of the moments that cannot be replaced or recreated. ”There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” Life is truly beautiful.
