How he came to power; jewish revolts had lead to him being released on a campaign to end the revolts, back home several rebellions against nero had made his power unstable, after nero came four emperors and soon after that he started gathering power for his own rebellion Titus Flavius Sabinus Vespasianus, also known as Vespasian, was an emperor who crucially impacted the future of the Roman Empire and left a lasting legacy as well as famous architecture such as the Colosseum, in Rome, Italy.

He was in fact, in several different high ranking positions of power however, his eventual title as the emperor ruling over the Roman Empire began in the year 70 AD and lasted for ten years (Grant). Right before he assumed the power as emperor, he had been sent out to deal with the Jewish rebellions, since he had proven in the past that he was in fact, a trusted and successful military leader (Grant).

Back home however, Nero was struggling with maintaining his power and eventually killed himself which led to three rulers in the span of eighteen months (Grant).

Vespasian began to build support for his own cause in 69 AD against Vitellius, the last of the three emperors (Grant). Support from the militaries of surrounding provinces eventually led to Vespasian becoming the emperor of Rome (Grant). Although he had finally become the emperor of the Roman Empire, it was still left in a mountain of chaos but, it was what he did in response to that that brought him a lasting legacy.

He brought an end to the Julio-Claudian dynasty and began the Flavian dynasty (Spielvogel 124). His restoration of the empire exceeded expectations (Grant). While Rome remained under the Rule of Vespasian and his new Flavian dynasty, he built the Colosseum that played host for gladiatorial games and spectacles and is also one of the most well known Flavian amphitheatres that still stands today.

Along with architecture such as that and the temple to Cladius, his way of ruling was viewed as very just and fair despite some pushback due to his ways of taxation (Grant). Also, he was able to greatly improve the economy of the empire that was very weak because of the past (Grant). Throughout his reign as emperor, he was able to accomplish many great things for his governed people as well as maintain his reputation as being equitable. During his reign, he was mainly focused on helping to restore Rome and there were some famous achievements and events that happened while he was in power. As usual there were some good and some bad things that happened but thankfully in the case of Vespasian, things were mainly good. Soon after he had come into power, he wanted to establish himself among the people, so he began a huge campaign of propaganda.

As was already mentioned he did in fact build monumental architecture including a temple that was dedicated to Cladius and the very acclaimed colosseum (Grant). However, because of the building of these “self-serving projects,” Vespasian needed money with which to pay for them with (Grant). In order to bring in money, he “retracted retracted immunities from taxation and instituted new taxes. He is also said to have engaged in price manipulation to raise funds”(Grant). This was one of the only reasons that he had some resistance from the people (Grant). Although he had to raise funds, the way he did it was still revered to be honest and Famous events and achievements; found favor with the emperor claudius, then he became a well known and trustworthy military leader and he won many leading to his election as a consul, he earned favor in the eyes of the people and a good and honest leader, joined the emperor nero on a tour but then was unable to handle it and then left,
