Women Should Be Empowered For a Better Tomorrow

Topics: Women'S Rights

In today’s era, in most of the developed countries like the united states women are independent and have the freedom to do whatever they want. But that’s not the case with all the parts of the world. Even in the 21st century, in the underdeveloped and developed countries like India, china etc women are still not independent and there are many restraints or social evils pulling them back from working and doing the things they like. For instance, if a woman in these countries want to work, the parents will restrict her from doing that as they think it’s the man’s job to work or it could be various other reasons.

But they are completely wrong. Women having her freedom will not only benefit her but benefits the society as well [like decreasing rates of unemployment, poverty, increasing the country’s economy etc].

There have been many cases just like in the story “No Name Women”, where the aunt faced a lot of humiliation and disgrace for having an affair outside of marriage.

There are many ways to eradicate these types of evils from our society. One way is for the government to create new jobs and subsidies to make the women work. One of the main reasons is that women working in a society will help the country improve in all the ways like the literacy rates will be improved, productivity of that country will be improved heavily making the country more efficient, and the county will develop faster.

Like Amelia Earhart once said “Women, like men, should try to do the impossible. And when they fail, their Failure should be a challenge to others.” I totally agree with this. Firstly, the government should take some action in improving the condition of women by running social campaigns and get to know about the women’s problems.

The corruption rates will plummet heavily when this happens as the government is going to spend some money [collected in the form of taxes from the people] on these campaigns. The UN women states that on average, women make up about 43 percent of agricultural labor force in the developing countries. Evidence indicates that if these women had the same access to productive resources as men, they could increase yields on their farms by 20 to 30 percent, raising total agricultural output in these countries by 2.5 to 4 percent. This would reduce the number of hungry people in the world by around 12 to 17 percent. This is an example of how the productivity of the country increases. Women are denied access to most of the public resources in these countries. For instance, in Saudi Arabia women are considered as minorities and inferiors, they are not allowed to do anything on their own.

The other main reason is that they will decrease the rates of unemployment, poverty, saving the country’s economy and give economic independence to women. It is clear that women consist of half of the world’s population. So, we need to treat them equal to men. Every human being has the right to live independently and earn independently. Women also need the economic liberty and independence. But that’s not happening in many developing countries. “Economic independence is about expanding the capacity of women to make genuine choices about their lives through full and equal participation in all spheres of life. It is about recognizing women’s work, paid and unpaid, as valuable, both socially and economically.”—Australian Human Rights commission. On the other hand, we have child abortion, this is a practice which has been happening since many decades now.

This mostly happens in families which are at the bottom of the society’s status as they cannot afford to bear a child, especially a girl, as they feel that it is expensive and hard to raise a girl child. Many people may argue that child abortion is fair. I do get it as the economic status might not be good so good for everyone. However, it is wrong to abort a child as it is equal to murder. This is also known as female feticide. Their perspective is wrong. “Abortion isn’t a lesser evil, it’s a crime. Taking one life to save another, that’s what Mafia does. It’s a crime. It’s absolute evil.”- Pope Francis. Finally, it’s the education. Women make up more than two-thirds of the world’s 796 million illiterate people which is very high. Most of the people think it is unnecessary for a girl to study as it is a “guy’s” job. But they are wrong. Women should be given freedom to explore themselves in a way that it benefits them and all of them around. The other main evil is Child marriages. Child marriages are making the condition worse for women.

Finally, the third main reason is, when a woman is empowered she will be helping her whole family in several different ways like financially etc. and herself as she attains mental peace in doing what she loves. This will be a big step towards the development of the entire world. In the past, even now in those countries, women are considered inferior creatures. A society which has gender inequality will never grow and be a developed nation. Economists believe that if the population will rise up to 10 billion by 2081 if the fertility rate continue to be the way they are now. To feed all the growing population we need more food which means we need more people working at the agriculture industry.

The majority of agricultural workers are women (about 80%) in the whole world so we need to give equal access to the fields and equipment as men do. “If women understood and exercised their power they could remake the world”—Emily Taft Douglas. Women are equally talented as men, in some cases more intelligent than men. It is cruelty to limit the full potential of a women in the name of religion, creed, sex etc. Gender inequality should not be tolerated, and we need to take action when a woman is being discriminated. Every woman should have access to education as they benefit the country. We cannot live without women and we need them to be empowered for a better tomorrow.
