America is “The land of the free and the home of the brave”. Since its very founding back on July 4th, 1776, it has been a country striving for greatness. On that day, the country declared its independence from Britain and began its journey to become the amazing country that we know and love today. Throughout the many years of the country’s life, it has faced many trials and conflicts, but in the end, the United States of America has conquered all obstacles that stand in the way of greatness, and has remained great.
From the freedom that most people know it for, to all of its seemingly endless opportunities, America really is a special country, and regardless of how it may seem at times, it is truly great.
When most people think of America, they think of freedom. After all, that’s one of the biggest appeals of the country. In the U.
S., people are free to say whatever they please, have their own opinions, follow any religion, speak any language, own property, choose their careers, and do countless other things that in many other countries, are not allowed. Here in the United States, people are truly free to be themselves, and to many people, this is one of the most valued aspects of life. It is our individuality that allows the world to grow and thrive, and by not limiting that with strict laws and regulations, America is really pushing the world forward and leading it to success.
However, freedom, as great as it may be, isn’t necessarily worth much if you can’t do anything with it. Fortunately, that isn’t really a problem for most Americans.
One of the other things that makes America great, is its seemingly endless amount of opportunities.
In America, people can take advantage of their freedom, and use it to become whatever they want. Whether their passion lies in computers, science, farming, teaching, law enforcement, or even things as seemingly ridiculous as taste testing foods, or playing video games, people can almost always find a job that suits them, as long as they’re willing to put in the effort. Different parts of the country specialize in different things, and the jobs in those areas reflect that. So if someone wants to pursue a career in a specific field, there’s a good chance that someone out there is looking for someone just like them. Now, jobs aren’t the only opportunistic part of the country, mind you. Many jobs require very specific degrees that make it necessary for people to attend college. Colleges across the country, fortunately, vary in terms of sizes, prices, classes offered, accessibility, and many other criteria that potential students may find important, making it easy for people to choose a college that they feel is right for them. Not only that, but many colleges even offer scholarships and loan programs to make attending them more affordable. Again, just like with jobs, if someone tries hard enough, they can make it into college and learn what they need for their eventual career, without any problem. These high amounts of opportunities, in addition to the aforementioned freedom, come together to form a country that really does care about the wellbeing of its people. Considering how amazing all of this sounds, it would make sense to assume that many people in the U.S. are rather fond of it, and not surprisingly, this is very true.
Millions of people across the country, regardless of who they are, love America with all their hearts. These patriotic people will do anything to show their love for their country, and their passion really shows that it is a country that is deserving of their love. To some people, patriotism is watching football or baseball on a Sunday afternoon. To some, it is owning as much red, white, and blue as you can, and making sure everyone around you knows what it represents. To others, it’s fighting in the military to protect the freedom of all the people who call the U.S. home. Regardless of what their idea of patriotism is though, they all agree on the fact that America is worth caring about.
Honestly, it would really seem that there isn’t just one thing that makes America great. There are a great many things that contribute toward its overall greatness, and whichever aspects a person chooses to focus on are up to them. There are millions upon millions of people living in the country, and the odds are, they all have their idea of what makes America great. America is just so amazing, that anyone living in it, or even not living in it for that matter, is almost certain to be able to find at least one thing that they feel makes the country really stand out when compared to all others, and at the end of it all, that is “What Makes America Great”.
