Tupac’s Huge Contribution to Rap Culture

When I think about the rap culture and who made a huge impact on a whole generation I think about Tupac. Tupac is an icon for the rap game. Tupac was a songwriter and poet that inspired others.

Tupac’s Music

The music he wrote were instant hits every time, he started a new flow of west coast rap music with the help of others. He signed with one of the most dangerous record label “death row” in 1995. It didn’t help him when he was in and out of jail, but that’s where he got most his inspiration from he spent most the time in his cell writing.

His poems were different from his music they were different they didn’t talk about violence instead they talked about happiness and hope for example “The power of a gun can kill and the power of Fire can Burn The power of wind can chill and the power of the mind can learn The power of anger can rage inside until it tears u apart But the Power of a Smile especially yours can heal a frozen Heart – Tupac”.

Tupac was also in a couple of movies which was a new thing for rappers and it inspired others like an ice cube to produce and be in movies. One of the most famous movies Tupac was in was juice, it was about 4 inner-city teens who were in the pursuit for happiness which they called “the juice”.

He shined light on issues that were happening in the world like police brutality on innocent African American men and he was a voice for the people.

Many people saw him as a “thug” and said his music promoted violence and criminal acts, but actually he was just writing about what he went through growing up and what he saw and it puts a different perspective in people’s life compared to what they grew up doing.
