Dear Hall of Fame,
I nominate Pink Floyd to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I believe that they should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because they are a very unique and well-liked band, they have many albums. Pink Floyd was started by Syd Barrett. He played lead guitar and vocals. Along with Nick Walters on drums, Roger Waters on bass and vocals, and last but not least Richard Wright on keyboard and vocals.
Pink Floyd was a very big and influential band on the London underground concrete street in the late 1960s. Later Syd Barrett, unfortunately, had to leave the band because his mental health wasn’t doing so well. That was when David Gilmour joined the band.
They released two top chart hit singles going on to make many albums. Some of them are The piper at the gates of dawn, the dark side of the moon, Wish you were here, Animals, The wall, and The final cut.
The Dark Side of The Moon and The Wall were some of the best-selling albums of all time. Pink Floyd’s music has a wide variety of places you could put it including punk, Alternative, metal, and grindcore, but Pink Floyd is more in the genre of Psychedelic Rock, Progressive Rock, and Art rock. If you notice they all share one common word rock. That I would say is the overall genre of Pink Floyd.
In 1979 Wright left Pink Floyd for different reasons than what we know about Syd Barrett.
Gilmour and Mason tried to continue Pink Floyd. Wright rejoined them a little later. They went on to make two more albums A momentary lapse of Reason and The Division bell. They toured in 1994. IN 2005 Walters came back to Pink Floyd to perform at Live 8 a global awareness event about South Africa. Unfortunately, in 2006, Barrett died and in 2008 Wright died. Their last album The Endless River was made in 2014 and was made mostly on unreleased material so it is a little peak at the past.
I want Pink Floyd to be in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because this band had a lot of heartache and bitterness about them yet they continued to make music. Pink Floyd is a very big and influential band in people’s lives. I love their music. One of my favorite songs by Pink Floyd is “Comfortably Numb”.Comfortably numb is a personal favorite of mine because of the lyrics. The lyrics to me are very deep and are understanding of my life. I can relate to this song in many ways. I relate to some of the lyrics like “a lot of people get this way” because that’s what I was told a lot about my depression and anxiety.
