With that being said, when it comes to this controversy you have two different groups of individuals that are being affected. One group agrees that once a fetus developed its heartbeat then no abortion can be made. This group believe in this controversy because a child is now growing. For example, in the article, a poll participant Nancy Evans, 65, of Bettendorf said it makes sense to bar most abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected. “The heartbeat gives a definition that this is a living child, and it’s not just a mass of cells,” she said.

” This exemplifies that people agree that once the heart is developed a child should not be aborted because it’s no longer tiny cells, it’s actually a tiny human being developing. Also, another article states “If abortion is the willful murder of an innocent, growing fetus, then it is still murder even if the child was conceived through violence or incestuous relations.

Murder of the innocent does not erase the devastation caused by evil.”

There this quote is explain that if a women make the decision to have an abortion, she is the murderer of an innocent growing child. Likewise with the decision that the Ohio House of Representative created, which is charging the mother of the growing fetus with fifth degree murder of killing an innocent child. Another example that supports the Ohio controversy of abortions is shown in the Gilligan’s moral development theory. According to the Gilligan’s moral development theory, it states, “In level one, Sally who 16 recently found out she was pregnant and decided to seek out an abortion services and when asked about her decisions, she express theirs no decisions, she tends to have an abortion and that’s the end.

” This example of the Gilligan’s moral development theory shows selfish reason to go forth with the abortion. This example expresses why many individuals are trying to ban abortions. This example shows that she doesn’t care about the new life that’s growing inside of her, she just want to get rid of the fetus for she can continue with her life.

Many women choose to make the verdict to have an abortion for many reasons. Some decision they are made could usually be simple or complicated. Everyone has their own unique and valid reason to have an abortion, and it up to the person whether having an abortion is right or wrong. The different reason women end their pregnancy include: not ready to be a parent, already have kids, sexually assaulted, not financially ready, focus on work, want to finish school, want achieve goals before a child is involved in their life. Deciding if and when to have a baby is a personally decision, that should be left to what’s the best decision for the mother and family of the developing fetus. An individual hold the ability to settle on choices that are best for them with the end goal to remain without anyone else way to a solid and significant life.

When looking at this very important moral controversy from an ethical point, I would use the two ethical theories known as ethics of care and Kantian’s theory. Ethics of theory is a theory on what makes decision morally right or wrong. It is one of the cluster of normative ethical theories, developed by feminist, which one is known at Carol Gilligan. According to Carol Moral Development theory, she states, “Ethics should be focus on relationship instead of emphasizing autonomy and rule. Gilligan’s theory focuses more on human connections within each other and circumstances being context dependents.

Ethics of care is well-defined to believe that context can sometime overrule justice and our universal code of conduct. This theory focuses more on interconnectedness of humanity and places of moral significance on our relationships as care contributors. In Gilligan’s Moral Development Theory: Level Three, she explain it is characterized by a move toward understanding that society’s expectation and definition of virtue are not as valuable as your own needs. Individuals in this level shift their focus on from the need of other to a space where their needs are valued at the center of their decision making. Gilligan example that was shown was an young teen who experiencing her second abortion and was feeling guilty, but the young teen untimely continues with the abortion because it is what she need. Gilligan level three, the moral decision of having an abortion was right, it wasn’t right just for the mother of the fetus but it was better for the family and spouse as well.
