The Inerrancy of Scripture

It is very clear all through the Old-Testament that God is speaking. I cannot think of a clearer way to say something is inspired by God, than Thus says the LORD, God said, or the Spirit of the Lord spoke. There is no question who said the things that follow such bold introductions.

More Divine Introductions in the New Testament?

As you have seen the Old-Testament is packed full of statements and introductions proving it is truly from the Lord. You will see this same proof in the New-Testament.

As the church we have always held to the fact that the New Testament is a truly divinely inspired group of writings. Now that’s not to say there has not been plenty of debate about this subject for many years and even currently. But in the end, we hold to the truth that every one of the 27 books that make up the New-Testament are from the lips of God.

Looking at (1 Cor.

14:37 ESV), Paul said, ‘If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord.” As we keep digging, we even see Jesus say in John 14:26, ‘But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.’ What does that say to us; it proves that God has called out and equipped these apostles to write down the words of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Not their best guess or in their own words but the literal words of Jesus. This promise comes from Jesus himself that the Holy spirit would give these men direction. There is no doubt that the words on the pages of the New-Testament are divinely inspired, just like the Old Testament.

The Overwhelming Evidence of Divine Inspiration

I believe that the evidence of the scriptures being divinely inspired is impossible to overlook or ignore because of its sheer volume. A great place to start is to look at the plethora of scientific facts that align with Scriptures. Facts mentioned in Scriptures that they in the time period they lived in could not have known apart from divine inspiration. For example (Job 26:7 ESV), it says: ‘He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing.” The Bible talks about creation, and how God created all things from nothing. We can also read about how God created man, brought about the flood, delivered His commands, and most importantly of all gifted us with Jesus. All that it says about creation and its origins can be pinpointed in science, history and even in genealogy.

Another way we can gain understanding of the fact that the Bible is inspired is through prophecies. Things told to us years and years before they happened about Jesus. These prophecies telling us of His birth from a virgin and how He would be rejected by His own people. Psalm 22 actually foretells the Jesus death on the cross. This had been written somewhere around one thousand or so years prior to Jesus being born of Mary. It was foretold, and it happened! There are around four hundred other prophecies that were fulfilled perfectly as well.

Even archaeology backs up the inerrancy of the Scriptures from ancient ruins to cities and places spoken of in the Bible. There are new discoveries every year in the field of Archaeology that line up perfectly with what the Bible says.

The question then, is there enough proof to make the claim that the Bible is, of divine origin? My answer is an emphatic yes. I believe that anybody who studies the words of the ancient scriptures with illuminated eyes will come to the same conclusion. The Bible is without a doubt written by the divine, God in Heaven.
