The Contrasting Views on the Controversial Subject of Human Euthanasia

Human euthanasia is a really debated topic in our day and age. Some people argue the ethics of it and some argue that it is both the best and worst thing ethically that can be done to someone who is terminally ill. I have some personal experience with having a family member who is terminally ill. I currently live in the United States where euthanasia on humans is not legal. My personal experience was through hospice which really changed my view in favor of human euthanasia.

Hospice is a very peaceful way to go where you basically just have your body shut down on itself. Many people argue against hospice because of this. The process of having your body shut down on itself can take days if not weeks and for some this is very unethical and can be very hard on the family about not knowing when their loved one is going to pass. In contrast many people argue against human euthanasia because they say the act of killing another human being is murder and that everyone should have the right to life no matter what their situation.

Many people who argue this say that sometimes the patient who would like to undergo euthanasia is not in their right mind and that in some instances they could possibly survive and that the chance of actually living through their illness is there and that even if they do pass away their life was extended as far as it could go from not undergoing euthanasia.

No matter what stance you take on this issue there is no arguing that there are valid arguments for the ethical reasons for both arguments. Some argue that keeping someone alive when they do not wish to be in pain or a bad situation is unethical while some argue that ending someone’s life intentionally in any situation is unethical and that everyone’s life should be extended to theirfull potential and that no one’s life should be ended under any circumstances.
