The construction working environment involves multiparty Paper

Paper type: Essay , Subject: Construction Management

The construction working environment involves multi-party envelopment. Every particular stage of the construction procedure has an assessable environmental impact: the mining procedures used to source materials, the construction process, the waste removal procedure that follows the completion of the project.

The environmental problems share, in common, concerns which involve the decrease of the use of non-renewable materials and water, and the decrease of emissions, wastes, and pollutants. With the partial prose used for the constraints in the construction working surroundings. It is important to identify the potential constraints in the construction project, which will help to reduction the needless waste and loss of both money and time because of inadequate planning.

The following goals can be found in several building sustainability assessment methods: optimization of site potential, pollution prevention and control, minimization of energy consumption, plant protection ,protection and conservation of water resources, use of environmentally friendly materials and products, and optimized operational and maintenance practices.

The constraints in five categories, they are:-

Environmental constraints

The general public has become increasingly more attentive of environmental concerns in all features of life as public policy reflects. The public concern and regulations require the environment to be protected such as air protection, tree protection, traffic limit, noise control and so on. In the planning and design stage of the project, the responsible publics must to go to the “Environmental Department” to apply for the approval for the project. If the approval is not got on time, the whole project will be delayed, or could not be carried out.

Social constraints

The social factors constitute constraints in the construction working environment. Sometimes it may arouse big problems for the project and will at the same time affect the progress of the project. This constraint will affect the adoption of new technology usage in construction project. It also affects the design and contracting of the project.

Legal constraints

The legal constraints exist because there are many regulations that are ruling the construction project. The legal constraints are mainly related to work law, safety regulations, and supervision plan.

Technical constraints

However having electrical wiring, ventilation ductwork, and plumber works with further complication of broadband alignment, and telephoning system give rise to technical constraints that demand coordination and collaboration of multi-parties in terms of design and construction.

Economic constraints

The economic constraints mainly happened with budget limit and allocation of the money. Due to the budget limit, the adopted construction system may not be the best option for achieving the project goal and quality. AS for the allocation of money to be used in the project, if the money is not effectively allocated, it will affect the progress of the project.

To have a good understanding of the identified constraints at the planning stages, so the management to have the constraints documented and to consider these constraints in the relevant project planning agenda and schedule as well as the designing of the organizational structure.

At the implementation stage, the management should keep track of the progress and be aware of the constraints they encounter. The management should ensure that enough resources, which include money, facilities, staffing and effort, are allocated to decrease the limitations from the constraints encountered.

Construction’s Impact on the Environment and Climate Change

The main way in which construction firms are doing this is by contributing to carbon dioxide releases. Carbon dioxide is a gaseous product of burning fossil fuels like gas and diesel. Environmental Impacts of Construction Projects

Aside from contributing to climate change on a global scale, individual construction projects can have a significant impact on local environments and nature. There are numerous sources of water pollution on building sites, including diesel and other fossil fuels, paints, solvents, and toxic chemicals. Even minor chemical spills leech into the ground and may enter waterways where they toxify water and harm aquatic life. Even greater than the impacts of the construction process it-self is the environmental impact of the actual buildings that are being constructed.

How Building Construction Affects the Environment

It’s not just the methods and materials used to construct a building that affects the environment. How it’s built to operate has a huge impact as well.

Construction Materials

The materials used in building construction also have a serious impact on the environment. First of all, many of the materials used in the construction of buildings are produced in a non-sustainable way. The factories that make the materials produce damaging Carbon dioxide emissions. Materials that are not produced locally are often shipped from across the country or even from overseas. There is a huge environmental impact associated with the extraction and consumption of raw materials for the use of building materials.

Waste from Building Construction and Demolition

The demolition and renovation of buildings result in a large amount of waste. Building waste often includes concrete, metals, glass, plastics, wood, asphalt, bricks and more. This waste is often disposed of in either landfills or else burners, not only does this pollute the land and the air, but the transportation required to eliminate such waste has a major impact on the environment as well.

The construction industry poses a major potential pollution threat to our environment and is responsible for many pollution incidents. The techniques, processes and procedures used to protect the natural environment are investigated and the advantages of adopting a sustainable approach to construction work are explored in the contexts of energy, materials and waste.
