Compare and contrast the venous movements we covered In class regarding the CWII nights Movement Questions to cover include but are not limited to Why were some successful and others not successful How do the circumstances ot the movement relate to Ideas and concepts covered m class? The Civil Rights Movement consisted of organized efforts to abolish unequal treatment to minority groups, including, African Americans, American Indians, Chicanos, Females, and other disadvantaged groups between the years 1954 through 1968. During this critical period in History, it is important to be aware of the many other influences that play a role in the way the era unfolded, such as Slavery, De Jure Segregation, and the Economy.

African Americans by this time were not only being discriminated against publicly and privately but it was also being enforced by the law.

Many movement groups were formed in this time, centrally involving the Kiu Klux Klan, the Black Power movement, and many other protest groups Laws such as Plessy vi Ferguson, which enforced racial segregation in public under the doctrine “separate but equal” and Brown v, Board of Education, which separated schools by race, further emphasized the idea that African Americans were not only racially, but socially, economically, and biologically inferior.

With moral integrity on their side, African Americans were benefited majorly by laws like the Civil Acts of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, and Civil Rights Act of 1968, which restored their rights of employment, to vote, and to freely buy and rent a property. Along with the circumstances of slavery and the more recent Civil Rights Movements, questions arise in if we should give minority groups an advantage in public and private institutions.
