Studying Interior Architecture: My Goals as a College Student

College has many rumors, it is known to be challenging, eventful, stressful, and much more. Honestly, I was scared to move out, be on my own and have all this responsibility. As a young adult coming up with goals and time management skills is a challenge. My ultimate goal is to graduate successfully with a major in Interior Architecture in the next four years. Leading up to that goal, I have smaller goals. Hopefully this is how I will thrive the next four years in college, My first week of college my goal was to not get lost, meet new people, and get accumulated on campus.

I really think first year experience (USTU 1250) will really help me with a portion of the bigger picture as well as starting college off right. My first semester I really want to finish my two major studio classes strong and finish all my classes with good grades. Passing my studio classes are most important because they are for my major that is really stressful already.

I really want to get more involved with my sorority and volunteer with habit for humanity within my major this upcoming semester. My first year, I want to carry over every goal from the first semester onto the second, Plus, adding on to my goals I want to have a good year and keep an open mind about meeting new people and getting to know my random roommates. By the time four years come around I hope to accomplish many things, I would like to have my major completed and be ready to graduate and hopefully an internship orjob offer for me to have somewhere to start after college.

All the professors in the Interior Design department really put an effort into their students so I am really excited to start working closer with them and building a relationship with the professors and even the students involved in that department. I want to be able to have as many opportunities as possible. As a student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, I strive to make an impact on campus to make it a better like the students before me. My goal is to do a lot with my sorority like I have mentioned before as well as through the department of Interior Design and the student association inside that department.

My goal is to join a few clubs, but trying to figure out which ones to join and how to go about that is the tricky part, I really want to get involved with a lot but I do not want to get in too far over my head After I decide on the clubs and organizations I want to join I am going to really get out there and possibly take on a few executive or chair positions inside the organizations. Finally, the main thing I am looking to gain from this USTU 1250 course is friendships and skills that will make the rest of college less stressful if possible I hope this class is not stressful but helpful meaning, I want to look forward to come to class and meet new students and be able to not stress out while the class is going on I hope this first year class leads me to the realization of college and positive and negative habits to get into and not get into I am looking forward to getting to know the professor of this course and the peer mentor working with us as well, I am looking forward to seeing what this class has to offer me as a freshman and I am ready to get started.
