Human Body – The Nervous System Essay
The Nervous System
The organs of the nervous system are called the brain, spinal cord, sensory organs, and all of the nerves which connect these organs with the rest of the body. Together, these organs are responsible for the control of the body and communication among its parts. The nerves in the body transmits impulses of sensation of the brain, spinal cord, and impulses from the muscles and organs, but the synapse permits a neuron to pass an electrical signals from one neuron to another. If the neurons sense pain in any part of the body, the neuron sends nerve signals called neurotransmitters to activate the brain to the situation. The neurotransmitters are sent up to the nerves, through the spinal cord, and up the brain and then the receptors receive the signals from the brain and then sends electrical signals to point where the neurons sensed pain. Nervous tissue reacts to stimuli by conducting impulses to various organs. Myotonic dystrophy is an inherited disorder in which the muscles contract but have decreasing power to relax. In other words, the muscles also become weak. This causes the nervous system to no longer maintain homeostasis because the system communicates with your muscles and causes stiffness in neck muscles.
The Endocrine System
All the organs that are a part of the endocrine system is the Pineal(sleep), Hypothalamus( the rate at which energy is produced), Pituitary(growth, sexual development, metabolism and reproduction), Adrenals(first line of defense against physical and emotional stress), Pancreas( digestion of food and control blood glucose levels), Ovary(Producing egg cells, secretes estrogen, and controls female development), and Testes(produces sperm cells, hormone testosterone which controls male development). The endocrine system is made up of glands that produce and secrete hormones, chemical substances pro…
