1st Essay Sample on Globalization

Globalization is the inclination of the economy of the world to function as one unit, with the large international companies pacing and conducting business all over the world. A few of the many effects of globalization are “the ending of trade barriers, free movement of capital, cheap transport and increased use of electronic systems of communication such as the Internet.” (Longman, 2000). Moreover, these channels of communication have helped a homogenous and largely commercial culture, and as an  example, “Disney movies are the children’s food the world over.” (Ransome, 1997), as well as Barbie dolls, fast food and the Americanized youth culture that is attracted to the wealthy suburbs of Sydney, and in addition, the fusion of cuisine is another effect of the phenomenon, the fusion of ethnic foods throughout Europe. One of the downsides is the “widening of the gaps between the rich and the poor.” (Ransome, 1997).

And also, “the integration of the global economy that started five centuries ago” (Ellwood, 2001) now is increasing poverty and inequality in the world because “national governments lose the ability to control their development strategies.” (Ellwood, 2001). But these reforms need to put meaningful employment and human rights as the heart of the policy and next is the ecological health of our planet. As a testament to globalization, the CEO of Gillette razor Al Zeien believes that Gillette is a global company for “it sees the world as a single country.” (Griffith, 1998). This “one size fits all” (Griffith, 1998) policy has been effective for the company, for Gillette uses the same strategy for all the nations. And Zeien believes that moving overseas is beneficial in building niche markets within countries.

Their aim for number one status is so that Zeien stated “we’ll only be in markets where we can be number one for focus is what gives us the bang” (Griffith, 1998).

2nd Essay Sample on Globalization

As the term globalization becomes a common term shared by all of humankind, people of diverse backgrounds will traverse and inhabit the whole expanse of the earth, in its every corner. In consonance with this bustle of human activity, there would be a proportionate increase in the demand for natural resources and land in order to sustain the ever growing population as part of one large ecosystem. Thus, humankind will look up to the heavens—space, as the last boundless frontier to conquer in pursuance of the goal of limitless resources to meet life’s daily needs. It is a fact and an eventuality that the nations of the Earth will exhaust all its natural resources if man will continue its activities as what it is now doing today. Hence, it is imperative that man and nations will cooperate towards achieving the end of cooperative space exploration. The exploration of the vast space frontier provides an opportunity to uncover hidden worlds where natural resources are abundant such as food, water, and especially land. Man doesn’t need to go so far deep in space to know space exploration’s benefits to humankind.

Space stations provide the perfect surrounding, as scientific data had presented, to conduct experiments that reveal new cures to man’s age old sicknesses and new era diseases.Looking through an astronomer’s eyes, space exploration gives us an outlook of the dangers space can offer to our delicate planet; thus, we can implement stringent measure to avoid a catastrophe brought about by comets, UV rays, and asteroidal collisions.Given these premises, the benefits derived by space exploration outweigh the basic conception that it is costly and unessential. Cooperative space exploration brings an added advantage to peaceful and humanitarian efforts to unite the world as one. Countries working towards a common goal mean lasting peace without the scourge of war and conflict.

3rdEssay Sample on Globalization

Only multilateralism can ensure peace and security Global problems such as terrorism can only be resolved through international cooperation based on multilateralism. As the experience of Israel has shown, the willingness to use disproportionate military strength against a weak, powerless people does not, in any way, enhance security, even if that strength is supposedly invoked in the name of fighting terror. Besides, the idea of national sovereignty does not absolve any nation from the obligation, particularly in today’s globalised world, of respecting international law. The perils of muscular unilateralism are all too evident: From the deteriorating situation in Palestine to the current mess in Iraq. Cynics may question the relevance of the UN or the International Court of Justice, which has recently censured Israel for its construction of a security wall through Palestinian territory, but that is surely myopic.

With the world becoming an ever more integrated – not to mention unipolar – place, it is vital that we have multilateral institutions in place to maintain the necessary checks and balances and to ensure cooperation on matters that affect all the nations. Israel’s blatant disregard for international legal and public opinion has not paid off – today it faces the gravest ever threat to its security. Had it heeded the UN resolutions advocating a more even-handed deal for the Palestinians, it is certain that it would not find itself in such dire straits. Every effort must be made to strengthen global institutions like the ICJ and the UN. Without them, there is really no check on rogue states like Israel, or for that matter Sudan, where a genocide has been in progression for years.

The challenge is to arm these bodies with the necessary teeth to act decisively when gross human rights violations take place.
